Posted this on the BC thread but it wasn't the right place.

Has anyone else pondered the thought that Hamill could be voicing the big, bad darthy AND playing Luke? This giving us two roles for Hamill?

As I said in the BC thread, this could work because we know Mark can do quality voice work.

^^^ He certainly can and it gives new meaning to the rumor about "Darth Luke". It would be true without actually being true.

There is the point of destroying a character arch, especially an iconic one for the sake of a shock value. You sacrifice flow of narrative and the empathy of the audience towards the characters and situations for a mind blowing shock.

Also I don't think Abrams will go for some big shock value in Episode 7 rather he will want to tell a good strait forward story. If there is a big twist I think it will come later in the trilogy.

Amen! But i understand the want for shock but I think they need to make a good movie before trying to make twists I think most of these rumors will be fake and this movie might go down as the most well hidden movie of our age.

I'm not necessarily arguing for Darth Luke, but a new arc doesn't destroy an old one. The actions that Luke took in Jedi will always be important; they had real ramifications that day.

Arcs that backslide or shift over time are normal in literature. Chekov, for example, was a master of them, and there's no need to think of one destroying the other -- that's hyperbole.

There might be interesting reasons a character like Luke would choose the darkside -- as we saw in Dark Empire. And since we can't say for sure how it would turn out, it's premature to compare the arc too much to the OT.

I can see a Luke Skywalker who is more uncertain with his increasing power and ascension to master. He doesn't fear becoming evil, he fears the potential good or damage his power might cause. He worries whether he can live up to the level of mantle that Obi-Wan and Yoda demonstrated to him with students.

They could even hint at it by showing Luke opening a Sith Holocron towards the last minutes of Episode VII. You would leave the theater not knowing why he was doing this? Was it just curiosity? Was it the Dark Side? It will definitely keep you wondering until Episode VIII.

Tomorrow's version will undoubtedly be that Han & Luke decide to kill themselves, together.

Isn't the source a 4chan post on that? I'd give that about a -10 credibility.

It's interesting that you say that as in this old photo, he's sitting next to Andy Serkis. So maybe Hamill's voicing a CG villain with Serkis doing the mo-cap?

I really want to make a Heathers related joke but since it would be in bad taste, I'll refrain.

If there is any truth to Luke being bad, I'd love to see the force ghost of Anakin make an appearance and give him advice. Hayden would preferably play him aswell.

My apologies if this topic appears somewhere else:

I was wondering if (and how much) Luke's force abilities have progressed over the 30 years between trilogies. I thought I read speculation on this site about Luke being able to be so powerful he could move mountains(?). Since Abrams is creating his own story (not following the EU), will Luke have advanced to "Grand Master" or some semblance of Jedi Master?
