JCC Discussion Time: Let's Talk About Drafts - next draft?

I'm not saying don't do it; I'm saying whoever does is going to be in for a headache(or like a lot of research anyway).

Or not. Heck, why even make a list? First drafts always have team busters. Let the gm's do the work for you the first time.

 

yea. that's pretty much what i was thinking. just link to who you picked, because doing much of anything else would just be insane. there's simply too much stuff out there for fantasy. or fiction. or anything like that really.

 

Next Pokemon draft, that might be a better route to go. Just have the Legendary shortlist or list of people who can't be taken and so forth, and just list who has been taken the rest of the time (maybe cross off the rest of the evolutionary line, too).

That aside, I'm still voting Movie and Television.

 

if we do another pokemon draft, i think it should be judged more like an actual fight... rather than them sitting there taking turns hitting each other like in the games. that was annoying as all get out, and made it pretty much pointless other than looking at numbers and judging from that.

 

We did judge it like an actual fight, but we also had good numbers to see what hits would do. The only problem was the criteria for what judges thought was important kept changing. Which actually helped me. I'd be down for Pokémon or wrestling. Movies/TV is way out of my element but I might be able to do the whole "GM if needed" thing and pretty much be a cellar dweller.

 

what i mean by that yak, is actually establishing what the criteria actually IS before we even go into it so that everyone can know what's going on, both judges and GMs. that would have made a HUGE difference, and would have helped keep the criteria/etc from morphing throughout the draft.

I actually liked the Un-Draft we did once. Where the idea was to pick the least powerful people, and lose every fight. It was a nice change of pace.

You draft with the intent of losing as many matches as possible. He who loses the most, wins.

I think an undraft for comics could be interesting... or a real scrub draft. I vaguely remember the pokemon draft, did that even complete?

 

yes, it did. and we had one heck of a time trying to figure out how we were judging things. that was one of the biggest messes i've seen in a long time in one of these, simply because we had two GMs judging things.

 

Scrub draft sounds fun to me. Or a M&TV draft. I would also be up for an Anime Draft.

Undraft doesn't sound that appealing though. Pokemon I would skip as well. Wrestling I would do, but wouldn't be overly excited about it.
