See peaches, it's like we picked "Coruscant Nights" just for you.
Where the Coruscant Nights Book II was not great...I still found myself actually liking it...and finished it in pretty good time...
"Millenium Falcon" is indeed a fun read...
again...I seem to only have a limited time to devote to reading..but find myself making time for this one...I am already 1/3 of the way through....and I just started it on Saturday...
How true...it is nice to read a story with no worry about someone' life in jeopardy....
there are so many references to some of the really old books like "Han Solo - At Star's End" and the Lando Calrission Trilogy..."Flame Wind of Oseon"....
lots of good stuff...
what is the date of the next book club and the other events. the upcoming events hasn't been updated.
Book Club will be Saturday, November 22 at 1:00 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble in Schaumburg, discussing Jedi Twilight, Coruscant Nights I;
followed by lunch and games at Game Works in Schaumburg, beginning at approximately 3:30 p.m.;
and if that wasn't enough for 1 day -
followed by Quantum of Solace at Streets of Woodfield, show time between 7:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. (to be determined).
Way more fun than anyone should be allowed to have in one day!
It's so nice to be thrown a bone like that, and it takes so little effort to do. And since we're just remembering them and not rereading them it's nostalgic and not tooth-pulling.
Peaches: I could be wrong, but I think book club is on the 22nd, of November; in this the year of our Lord 2008. And afterwards, GameWorks, and Quantum of Solace!!!!
Best crazy line in Corsuscant Nights so far:
"No guts, no glory, after all. Not that he had anything to prove. Nick knew he had guts. He'd seen them."
ref, the December, 13-th book,
as there seem to be a number of versions,
and I might make it to this meeting,
is this the book?
That's the one, the novelization of the movie.
YES YES YES,
amazing but true
(unless Global Thermo-nuclear ((is there any other kind )) breaks out)
I can make this!
will have read....I mean....know......I mean.....
be aware of the contents of this book
Reminder everyone, Shadows of Mindor for January. Got to go pick it up tonight!
The Evanston / Schaumburg taxi will be running for the January book club. Space is limited. Make your reservations early!
I can not make this, at this time,
thought to add,
that it would be helpful if the,
Upcoming Chicago Force Events:
in the banner above,
reflected this event
Sadly I won't be able to make it to the next 2 book clubs! I'm in over my head with these grad school auditions & they won't be done until MARCH.
Picking up the book from the library tomorrow. I had to ask them if they would order it; fortunately, they did. Unfortunately, it come in today - one week before book club.
I haven't had a chance to read this book. Will make it to dinner at Jak's Tap.
So, I was asked at the Aaron Allston booksigning last night if I was going to the Book Club this Saturday.
Well, I had not even thought of this, sure it is listed in the
Upcoming Chicago Force Events:
area, but have not seen any posting activity on this.
Well, the high command has given me leave to attend the book club this sat
who all is comming??????????????
Starting the book today.
I haven't had a chance to read the book and with the potential snow tomorrow, I think I'm going to sit this one out.
Had a great time at the book club yesterday
Sure, I did not read the book, but participating with others who had
and hearing what they have to say, is fun, enlightening, and Star Wars.
9 in all attended a lively discussion of about 90 minutes, that was followed up by
I tried to use my new, (now do not faint) computer
(yes, after 14 years of waiting and with windows 98 my only upgrade I thought it was time)
but, the bookstore we were at could not tell me how to use the wireless connection,
and of course, since I have very little, well acutually, almost no knowledge
of how this new fangled thing works, I was unable to be on the internet.
Maybe it was just this place, as I saw no one else useing a computer and most everywhere else,
I go there seems to be access, perhaps I am at a competing book store, but then I rarely
can tell them apart.
I still had lots of fun!
Looking forward to a good discussion Saturday of Millennium Falcon at the Border's on State Street.
I wonder where we will go for lunch after. Any ideas? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler? Anyone?
Just noticed that the
Upcoming Chicago Force Events
has not been up-dated with any April info.
Even tho I am out of town at this time, I like to keep track of things,
especially the Book Club
May book club will be at the Schaumburg B & N in Schaumburg. The 4th Saturday in in Memorial Day weekend. It was agreed to move the date to May 30, usual time of 1:00 p.m.
We will be discussing Wraith Squadron, Star Wars X-wing book #5, by Aaron Allston.
See you all there!
It's me - doc4converse - strange to be able to use a new name and pretend you are newbie when you know you are not. With my costume, I might as well have a username that describes me properly.
What are the plans after the book club meeting on May 30? I will be there, but not sure if I can finish the book by then. I will try to see if I can also come June 27 - not sure yet - although the scavenger hunt seems fun.
Sorry to have missed the last book club meeting since I loved "Millenium Falcon" and could not stop laughing when Poste was trying to explain who Han Solo and Princess Leia are to Jadak...
Ugh, so I finished Wraith Squadron and everything (unlike last time) but I'm not going to be able to make it out to Schaumburg tomorrow...what are we reading for June?
June book club will be June 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Border's at State & Randolph (downtown Chicago).
We will be discussing the next X-Wing book: Iron Fist by Aaron Allston.
After book club will be the fabulous and exciting Kessel Run. Please plan to stay and participate (see the separate post for details). It will be lots of fun!
