Fan Force UKs' Grand Day Out - 6th August - Sutton Park (Birmingham)

Just in case you dont venture out of the Northern Boards, thought I would mention about this fantastic idea that our RSA, Phill, has proposed.

Maybe we can use this thread to co-ordinate Northerners attending?

I for one (and as always) am happy to attend, take the car and fill it with at least 4 others from my area to the event.

If you have any suggestions/ideas to contribute to the planning of the event, then Post Them Here in the main thread

I am totally up for it, the only prob I forsee is me getting to where-ever the meet will be, since I don't drive. Let's see where it happens, so I can decide.

So how are we all getting down, Dickie came up with the idea of getting a mini van.

 

Also whats it like for camping down there? It seems like a waste to go for one day. How would the northerners feel about going on sat and camping til monday. Then anyone from other chapters can join us if they can/want to.

Renting a minibus may be good if one us can drive it. If all chip in should be cheepish.

 

Make a weekend of it, sounds good to me

Minibus - nice idea, but a spanner in your works. How do you plan to pick you people so far apart as Merseyside on one coast and near Middlesbrough on the other coast then go to Birmingham? Its a long trek. I was planning train, I was working out stations and stuff, and there is a stop walking (ie 15-25 mins I believe) from the park, and a hotel I am aiming for. But if a camping trip is planned, I may do it. I have no tent, so not sure if balancing out paying for hotel room vs buying tent (I won't use much) works out.

 

Well, I'm going to try and get down, not sure about camping though, is there a campsite nearby? :/

As for transport, the minibus idea might be a tad crazy i.e merseyside>middlesborough>brum, so I dunno. If we're not doing that I'm going to head down in my car anyway - it's an excuse to drive somewhere!

 

Your idea might be the safe bet, Tim. Going down by coach can't cost much, can it?

As for the North east Members - How are we all getting down ? train ? Mini Bus ? Or Squeazed into the back of jase's car ?

Camp sites, I think you are allowed to camp in the park itself. Theres a caravan site near by that lets you camp but I'm not sure and I think it's quite far from the park.

I can try and find out if you like. If not you will have to pitch your tents in my back garden. Actually you could stay in my back garden if you want!

But I will think about it. Bear in mind I can only take 5, including me (unless I fit a roof rack - then I can steer from the top of the car? )

Collective car shares seem the best idea - unless there is a large grouping in one area (ie. over 5 in the North East!)
