Eurovision: My favorites were Cyprus and Russia. I think Russia will win.
The rest of my top five were Belgium, Serbia, and Poland.

I really liked The Grey People (the dance about the refugee crisis.) It was quite moving!

I am really beginning to think that the SW writers when they design the Unknown Regions have no understanding of how sithspiting big it is. Couldn't they at least have divided it up in some kind of North UR, South UR and Central UR? Or better yet even smaller units.

Or where it was? Looking at the maps from the NJO it takes up half the galaxy it seems and to me is in the wrong place. I would have put the Unknown Regions on the edge of the galaxy or beyond the Outer RIm.

Fully agree, even if my comment was for the current (or rather old EU's last) design of the galaxy, I think a problem is that the creators decided to use a ring system of the galaxy and not seemingly differ between things like northern Rim and southern Rim. Everything Rim is the same no mater that it would probably take weeks, if not years to travel between them unless you have a good hyperdrive and astrogator system.

EDIT: The 'Threats' part of WotC's Unknown Regions book is an excellent example of this, here we have Chiss (northern UR) together with Ssi-Ruuk (southern UR, the other side of the galaxy) and Tofs (not from UR and did not really travel in it during the Nagai-Tof war).

I had a late night seeing the new Captain America movie, so didn't really feel like getting up at 5am to watch Eurovision live. I'll catch up on the repeat tonight, but I'm quite shocked Australia came second!

Then again, I'm still not sure why we're still involved (I'm being facetious, I know exactly why)

Goodwood The ranks are not determined by rarity. The show isn't clear on the ranks, as we only know for certain that Diamonds are at the top, Pearls on the bottom, Peridots slightly above, and Quartz Gems somewhere toward the upper tiers.

And yes, we can make diamonds, but the Gems are not from Earth. They are sentient space minerals, and our world with its organic life is merely a stopping point for the expansion of their empire. They harvest materials from Earth to make more Gems, which decimates the planet.

I don't know what I did in my sleep but I woke up with my feet on the pillow. Oh, and I cricked my neck. I think an epic battle must have happened.

    Awww!

My family had a Bengal cat for about a year. She had some issues and we got her when she was a year old because the breeder could not sell her. She never liked being picked up and she never wanted to be indoors. We tried to keep her as an indoor cat because once she did get out, there was no way to get her back in (without being torn to shreds by her). She escaped one winter and we unfortunately could never find her again. It apparently isn't that uncommon of an occurrence - a family we knew also had a Bengal just all up and disappear on them without a trace. But apparently they can also be great cats.

But durpy Agatha is much more my sort of cat.

Also, I decided that I am going to get my hair cut, (but I didn't have time yesterday because I had to straighten my brother's hair, then find him a corsage because he was taking a girl to her prom). I figure I can either look really bad with my shaggy, curly mohawk, or just cut if all off and deal with a bad pixie cut for a few months. Someone recommended me a really good hair dresser, unfortunately their place is like at the very opposite end of town, which is a 45 minute drive for me. Needless to say, I want to make sure I have an appointment I can keep.

Some pixie cuts can look quite cute.

The term might start appearing in my fics, now that I am reminded of the description; I'd forgotten it existed.

When my buzz starts growing out, it's basically a short pixie cut.

I really like pixie cuts, but my hair is so thick and now very curly, that last time I tried one, it ended up a disaster. I'm not sure if it was the cut or my hair. Hopefully it will go better this time around.

Does NOT count if you were still in the same bed, same building and same city. NEXT!

Briannakin - Those are cute. :)

Sith-I-5 - I thiiink there's a huge discussion on that exact term somewhere in one of the asocial non-social threads.

    ...

As far as my dreams go, I just woke up from one where my father was alive and he, mom and I had a random road accident in Hungary...which looked a lot like non-Hungary, given the number of hills and the area supposedly not being Baranya, which is kinda hilly. Like...ummm, OK?!

Also, I need this. I need it badly. Have not been paid for more than two weeks, got in a situation where I need to refund one of my ten clients and found that one of the remaining nine is likely a fraud; but I NEED THIS.

If there is a backstory to this comment, I feel like we need it.

And that Ewok is adorable! I'm thinking about buying myself one of those Sphero BB-8 for myself for my birthday... if I ever bloody get my rent and if land taxes don't kill me (#landlord problems - so, yeah, I feel you. But that really sucks that one of your clients might be fraud).

Briannakin Take it from someone who's had a pixie for decades: if you want to grow your hair long from a pixie, you really, really need a good hairdresser. If you want a pixie to keep it, then you can just buy clippers and use them once a month ;)

I've had experience growing my hair long from a bad Pixie. I can do it. My hair grows crazy fast anyways.

So, my province is considering extending insulin pump coverage for everyone (right now it is only for those under 25, because type 1 diabetes magically disappears on your 25th birthday or something ) so I have spent the past 2 hours emailing MLAs (members of the legislative assembly) my heartfelt story of two sisters slowly watching their father go blind, then die at age 34 from complications from the 'betus (I left out all the drugs), then both sisters being diagnosed within 18 months of each other.

    Here's hoping it does something.

As the son of a politician (though not a legislator) and someone who agrees with your stance, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that if your story actually lands in the lap(s) of those who are on the pro side of this issue, they will indeed sympathize. Whether or not they use it in debate is another thing entirely; the most it will likely do is spur them on a little more, which is what you probably want anyway. :)

That story can be written, but I committed to the other non-sequitur from this thread, some six months ago: Mace Windu vs. Jazz Jackrabbit. Also, I thiiink I got it from a Ricky Martin song, "Livin' La Vida Loca". O_O Didn't he wake up in New York city in a funny, cheap motel? Nobody says that he was there when he fell asleep.

Diabetes type 1 and the hardships you sufferers go through makes me sad. :( Makes us with type 2-related conditions look like whiney adult babies. Hope the law gets changed!

As far as my work goes - thanks for compassion, I'm in total limbo. One of my best friends is getting married on Friday and she invited only eight people - her father and grandmother, another friend and me. I need to get her a gift ASAP, and that means forcing one of these nine people to pay me. Not to mention that my mobile phone has been turned off, which is an inconvenience and that, yeah, I'm saving up money for my trip in August.

And yeah, I know - savings are a good thing, but since I didn't work from March 2015 to February 2016, that is not an option. All of you who can do Force persuasion...go persuade my clients. :p

I've been dreaming about political conventions the past few nights, it's really weird. I think between watching The West Wing (I've never seen it but I'm kinda obsessed now!), Scandal, and real life US right now, my brain is really confused in my sleep about who's running and doing what. :p

Ewok Poet- That really sucks you haven't been paid. :( Is this a case of people for some strange reason think some things should be free and they are arguing with you or just don't want to pay you? Or are they just disorganized and haven't gotten around to it?

Bri - I hope they change that ruling, it's completely ridiculous! I've always wondered if writing to people in government does any good, but I've always figured it doesn't hurt and if it does get to someone, it could help.

Okay, so I'm gonna rant for a bit here. I moved out of home in September into a new town about 20 minutes away from where I used to live. Since I've worked with youth for over two years, I've regularly had to go through and get criminal record checks done. In the city I used to live in, I just went to the police detachment on any weekday, fill out the form, and it'd be back within a week. Here, I have to go to the RCMP detachment, and they only apparently take the forms on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and it takes a whole month to get them back! I was too busy to try to get it sent in until the week I went to camp for my High Ropes certification, but that was a Monday, and I left Tuesday morning and wouldn't be able to do it until I got back. And once I did, I was told it wouldn't be ready until June! Is it just the RCMP doesn't work as hard as a city police department or what? I'm miffed because all my camp forms need to be in by the end of May, and I didn't expect the CRC to take 4 times longer.

EDIT: What is a word processor I can use that isn't kriffing Word? I don't want to have to subscribe to something, especially Microsoft, to use a word processor.
