Now that you've watched this episode again, how would you rate it?

Remember, unlike our Season 3 polls, please feel free to discuss the episode as much as you'd like in this thread. Did the episode seem any different than the first time you saw it?

1 out of 10 only because that's as low as I could go.

I've been considering going back and watching the whole series again, but I keep hesitating solely because I know I'd have to actually watch this again. Jar Jar destroys the entire episode for me.

    6/10

I didn't like the idea of Obi-Wan and Anakin being tied to Dooku the whole episode, and Ahmed Best not voicing Jar Jar was a low point.

    1. And I know I'm supposed to rewatch this before I post my comments but I really don't want to put myself through such an atrocity.

If you're gonna include Jar Jar, at least get Ahmed Best in to do it. No-one can do the voice like he can. If you can't get Best in, then write Jar Jar out. We don't need more stupid luck-based heroics.

About the only good thing I can remember about this one is Dooku choking Turk Falso at the end and the Clones' dismay upon discovering they have to take orders from 'Representative Binks'.

Asides from Jar Jar, the whole idea of Dooku and the Jedi having to co-operate was dumb. As was the planned treachery of Turk Falso. Ugh.

    Oh boy this episode.

This, along with Mystery of a Thousand Moons is on my skip list as well. 3/10, and it only gets that high of a score because of the Dooku choke scene at the end.

7/10. On the positive side, I liked the structure of the episode. It's the only episode so far with so many interconnecting storylines and I'll definitely give the writers credit for that. In addition, the interaction between Anakin Obi-Wan and Dooku was a unique type of encounter. Hondo was once again amusing, and Dooku redeemed himself as a Sith at the end with the killing of Turk and the other pirate.

As for negatives, Jar Jar certainly comes to mind. His voice was horrible and all the heroism from Bombad Jedi was taken away with his "accidental" bravery at the end.

BJ Hughes, bumbling Jar Jar, racing rhynoceros, repeated escape attempts, cavity-hidden lightsaber.... oh my....

I give this a 2, only because of Hondo and the choking scene.

This is the episode that came closest to making me quit the series. If it weren't for Jedi Crash coming right after it, I probably wouldn't be here right now.

    5/10 for me.

Its funny but back in 1999 the people who saw TPM probably thought that nobody could make Jar Jar's voice more annoying than Ahmed Best. However, ten years later they were proven wrong with B.J. Hughes's rendition/imitation of the character. [face_sick]

I'll admit that I thought Jar Jar was fine in TPM, I liked him in AOTC, and I could tolerate him in Bombad Jedi. However The Gungan General made the character unbearable for me to watch, mostly due to his voice.

The plot hole didn't help either.

Dooku and more Obi-Wan and Anakin interacting together (which I love to see in TCW) are the only two reasons why I'm giving this episode at least an average score. I will agree that Dooku killing Turk at the end was awesome.

I always thought it was a bold(?) move by Filoni and company to have Jar-Jar not once but twice in the first 12 episodes.

2/10 Just a poor episode. Only Ahmed Best can play JarJar. The only upsides were two things.

"My mother always said, one slave is good, two is better. And three, well my son, that's just good business!"

    And Dooku's choking murder.

Gave it a generous 5 because of Hondo, choking scene, Commander Stone and the "he's a plague" line.

    6/10.

Anakin and Obi-Wan being drugged, Obi-Wan's magical reappearing lightsaber dragged it down, not to mention...

    BJ HUGHES.

    3. They ended the previous episode with them switching the drugged cups, then they start by being drugged. A bit of an unadressed plot hole. Could be explained, but they never bothered to do it. Anakin an dObi-Wan's go between with Dooku was comical at times, but that's about the only good point in the episode. Would have gotten a lower score otherwise.

I don't even want to get into that.

Bleck. I remember when this episode first aired, I almost stopped watching the series right here. Even Hondo's awesome stage presence doesn't save it. And I don't even hate Jar Jar!

I'm giving this episode a 1 for being completely stupid. Even that painful episode, The Academy, was better than this, since it at least made sense. I think part of the reason I'm so pissed at this episode is because they 1) ruined Dooku's character (I mean seriously, he gasped like a little girl!) and 2) used some of the plot ideas that made TPM so horrible in most people's eyes (i.e. over-the-top nonsensical Jar Jar antics).

Wow, I can see why this episode isn't the most beloved of the series, but I certainly can't see how it is one of the worst. It's not perfect, but I'd take it over four annoying kids playing detective with Ahsoka on a dull planet any day.

Not a whole lot to like in this episode although I didn't find JarJar as bad as some others have stated.
I liked Hondo and the scheming of his pirates behind his back.
I liked the banter between Dooku, Anakin and Obi. "Control your insolence!"
Dooku killing pirates at end was somewhat redeeming.

The multiple failed escape attempts got ridiculous.
JarJar and clones riding on skalders AND somehow catching up to pirates on speederbikes was absolutely ridiculous.
Making JarJar responsible for Senator Kharrus's death was not necessary and just mean-spirited.

    Mother of all plotholes[face_laugh]

I think he didn't gasp like a girl at all and i liked that scene:p

In fact i seem to like this more than people usually do- if i forget lightsaberplothole and BJ Hughes (together they can ruin everything:p )it was actually very nice episode:D - it had many enjoyable comedyscenes and entire concept of Dooku, Obi-wan and Anakin tied together escaping drunken pirates is so absurd it cannot be bad[face_laugh] maybe it embarass those guys but then what it's no more embarassing than Luke, Han and Chewie captured in a net by little teddybears that was my favorites scenes of ROTJ as kid and SW has not enough such comedy- so it was nice to see TCW has it after very dry and humourless AOTC and dark ROTS- some comedy without farting ala TPM is welcome:p - i would watch this stuff over Mortis or Corruption any time:p - just get Ahmed to play Jar Jar next time and i'm ok with gungan general even[face_laugh]
