How did Farrier find the Katana Fleet?

He didn't -- he led Thrawn to the other guy who was with Karrde when they found it.

 

Talon Karrde was navigator on a smuggling ship that accidentally stumbled over the fleet while running from a botched delivery. He checked the sensor data, figured out what they'd found, memorized the coordinates, and deleted the file. Before he deleted it, though, the captain of the ship also checked the sensor data and memorized the coordinates.
Mara Jade gave Thrawn just enough information that he figured out who the captain was, and he gave the name to Niles Ferrier. He also tipped off Ferrier that Han and Lando were in contact with someone (Bel Iblis) that had been buying Katana dreadnaughts from this guy. Ferrier sniffed out how much Han and Lando knew about where to find him, and when they didn't give him any information, he put a homing beacon on the Lady Luck and followed them to the contact point. Since he had the guy's name and Han and Lando didn't, he got to him first and grabbed him.
Thrawn then either interrogated or (more likely) bribed the guy into parting with the location of the fleet.
