I mentioned Sacrifices up above... and I'd personally stay away from Jabba on the Dais... it uses footage from the films... that's definitely on the "things we DON'T do in fanfilms anymore" list....

Fenn - not the sauage king.... that'd be Abe Furlman... :D

I have to second Halibut, I think The Empire Strikes Backyard is a must include. It's still one of my very favorites.

Don't worry about "filling" the CD.
If Mr Lucas chooses to watch it at all, it won't be to see everything on the CD. (I'm sure he has enough bandwidth at home to watch any fanfilm he wants.) He may only see a portion of one file. Personally, I would want to make sure that every file is entertaining, creative, and something we could all be proud of as a product of the fan film community.

    Have fun!

I don't think you should add troops because since I'm sure he saw that one, don't ask how I know, I just do :p And don't add any of the ones in the offical contest since he'll be watching those anyway. Don't add to many long films because I don't think he'll want to sit there for a long time watching fan films

    Chicago Tribune?!
Doesn't Roger Ebert work for the Tribune? or was it the late Gene Siskel? ?[face_plain]
I could see Ebert doing an interview with GL easy.
As for movies, it seems that the ones I found GL talking about was Troops and definitely George Lucas in Love.
He has a leaning to more creative and whimsical movies and the TFN definitely has its share here. ;)
Most of the Music Video and Animated fan films would fare better probably.
I would show snippets of the more recent arrivals to show advances in quality and execution...no offense but a good comparison would be Maru as opposed to Broken Allegiance.

Any of the Star Dudes and the PA Wars would be quick favourites with their instant appeal as well as Legacy of the Jedi....oh yeah clips of TESBY and Two-ness would be great for huge instant laughs too.

Films like Rogue, Knightquest, Seeds of Darkness and Broken Allegiance would be repected for their techinical merit.

But all in all, for a simple story and film I can't keep 'A Question of Faith' out of my mind. It is the best example that proves that its not the effects that drive the story...(and the effects weren't bad at all) ;)

    all the best Azeem :)

Bear in mind, its just my little opinion [face_mischief]

DarkATX: Ebert writes for the Chicago Sun-Times, the other big Chicago paper.

Wow, I can't believe the Trib is doing a fan film thing. This is so freaking cool. My (pseudo) home town covering TF.N...

    Happiness abounds.

    My picks for the disk:
    Question Of Faith
    A New World
    Broken Allegiance
    Console Wars
    Star Dudes trilogy
    Dark Skies
    KnightQuest

    Peace Out,

    It shouldn't be Pixel.

The way I look at it, we are basically being given the opportunity to say 'Hello George, look at all these films that are being made that aren't eligible for Atomsfilm'

Surely that's great news? Who knows, maybe if he likes the ones on the CD he'll get one of his minions to download the rest on the site. Either way, it's a fantastic bit of advertising for all fanfilms. so George will be all primed and ready whenever your film hits the internet :p

We still have no idea what the reporter is going to do with the CD.
Maybe he's going to write an article on copyright theft. Ladies and Gentlemen I give you exhibit (a) TheForce.net Fanfilm CD. Yikes!

Bounty Trail - Justin already has a job with LFL.

Dark Redemption - They had some legal run ins with LFL before. Best not bring that up again.

We've narrowed the list down to the probable candidates.

If Lucas wanted to shut us down, they can at any time. I may not agree with them on specific things about the AtomFilms contest but I do thank them for allowing fanfilms.com to exist.

    TOTAL 603megs

This leaves you some room for another feature or a few trailers. These are all hosted now, except for Storm Ahead, which will be and House Wars, which we hope will be. I think these selections show a wide range of Style, execution, budget and creativity.

    Just my opinion,

Bounty Trail, so what if he is working with R2, chances are, Lucas hasn't seen his flick, which credits your site might I add.

    I say put in:

    KnightQuest
    Bounty Trail
    Tydirium trailer A
    Broken Allegiance
    A New World

Just put in all the stuff that couldn't be accepted in the C2 contest that is worth a flip and makes us look good :)
