I think the reason Lucas doesn't show Chewie's genitals is he didn't want an NC-17 rating.

I was foolish enough to try a post about this once( after a friend mentioned it)........MAN talk about the flaming I took!!

 

If you consider how much fur he has, don't you think anything would be a little hard to see at a casual glance? And it would be just a casual glance, since more than that would lead to a loss of an arm or two.

 

Thats because its all covered by long shaggy hair or Fur whatever you call it, but Chewie is all Male just watch how he acts and responds to situtations,hes definetly Male,if chewie wasnt a guy we probably would have seen a Wookie/Human kiss onboard the Falcon in the Hoth Asteroid Field because women of all species cannot resist Han Solo.

I always thought it was because of Chewies attitude earlier "All right don't lose your temper! I'll come right back and give you a hand."

I guess I'll have to listen more closely next time and see if the screenplay is correct
