Is there a story about the first Lightsaber?

Has anyone ever come across a Star Wars novel or fan created story about the first Lightsaber? I would really like to know. I am interested in creating a Fan Film on it and am trying to find out if it is an original idea.

My last Star Wars film took over a year to make, and will be finished soon. This is an idea I have for my next film and I will be putting everything I have into it, so I really don?t want to do it if it isn?t an original idea.

 

For my fanfic I wanted Darth Bane to have a very "primitive" lightsaber.It might look like a normal lightsaber except it will be smooth aroud the hilt with one or two buttons.You could use that.
