[JCC]Banner rotation

Some of us feel the banner in the JCC is a little stale and would like a rotation (or possibly a contest for a new one?).

 

Apart from being stale, it doesn't fit the JCC's style whatsoever.

What was the rationale against rotation?

 

We first need to see how many JCC banners are available.

 

The banner we have is an amazing banner. i think it's terriffic.

I really didn't like the rotating banners, with 4 banners getting changed every two weeks ( i think it was).

It means lesser banners get intermingled with the good one. A new banner may be in order for the JCC, but the rotation thing shouldn't be mandatory. It made sense the first time it was done in the AOTC forum when there was more than one outstanding banner. Now it seems like other forums do it just because the AOTC forum did it. And rotating the banners once a week, as was done last time, was just way too much.

Every 2 weeks? That might still be too long.

I'm talking 3SA style. Where you might see 27 banners in one day.

Heck, I've seen Sapes change the banner twice in the middle of my post.

A new banner wouldn't be out of the question and I would probably be one who would advocate for the creation of a new one. I don't know if we'll go as far as a contest, but I encourage all banner makers to toss together something creative and if something great comes out of that, we'll definitely consider putting it up.

 

1. The banner the JCC has now is very nice, but in my eyes its better suited for a different forum.

2. I dont think that the JCC should have a rotating banner.

3. Dont bring back the one of the cafe with the slutty old lady on it.

 

I'd love to see the banner we had before the one thats up there now come back. I mean the one with Anakin and Padme making out in the corner, the younglings with their sabers up, etc.

 

The rotating thing works in 3SA because unseen ROTS images get released all the time, and are fun to incorporate in new banners. People actually enjoy it in 3SA... In the JCC it'd probably end up 'causing petty drama.

Yeah, like as a main banner!! except our current main banner is amazing, and does not need to be changed >

 

I like the current YJCC banner. I don't really want it to be changed.

However, I think that the main banner, however wonderful, is much better suited for the Sith Council.

 

Please can we have something new for the JCC banner. I don't really care about a mandantory rotation, but a change now and then would be really nice.

I can't help it that people want to copy my ideas, even in situations where they shouldn't be copied. Also, the (original) AOTC banner rotation changed once every couple months, so it didn't change too quickly.

One thing that might be worthwhile for the JCC would be to have some "theme" banners in relation to worldwide events. For example, we could have an Olympics banner for a while, and then go back to a default banner (like the current one). I wouldn't even complain (too much) about changing it occasionally for a major movie release that a lot of SW fans would be excited about (Harry Potter, LOTR, etc), as long as there was some small way to tie it back to the "Community" aspect, and as long as it was done in moderation.

Speaking of theme banners, perhaps we could just have one for each season.

Wasn't Lit set up so that it'd randomly pick one theme when it loaded, and not that they'd be manually rotated every month or so?

This is basically the same scenario that came into discussion with icons a few months back where Raven proposed the idea of adding new, non-SW icons to the community for a limited time for things such as major sporting events and movie releases. While this might generate a bit more excitement in the forum, I think we should keep the atmosphere SW or SW related as much as possible. An Olympic themed banner with SW elements/characters seems alot more theisable than just a basic Olympics banner.

 

Hmmm... I like that idea.


We could have Obi-Wan in speedos (swimming), Anakin in a leotard (gymnastics), Mara Jade as a weightlifter, Chewbacca as a runner, Leia as a volleyball player, Yoda as a basketball player, etc.


I would like to see it.

 

I get sleepy when I come to the gray colors of the JCC. I really think that banner could have some cool SW fight scene on it instead of just plain, boring buildings.

 

Yeah, it was via a randomiser script rather than manually.
