Oh Sil, you're my brother. Would you believe I actually asked him if he was BS-ing and giving himself out as... et cetera? :D

Anyway, I like The Beatles and Dylan, Bob. Ever since high school. My mother (who's very young) dug Pearl Jam and Nirvana and Soundgarden, which kids in my class could never understand. She liked the hip stuff, I the 60s stuff. Complete role reversal.

Electronica buff here. I like Trance, Drum & Bass, Jungle, House, yet I listen to other sorts of music as well. The only genre I intensely dislike is R&B/Hip-hop, but yeah...

I'm currently listening to The White Stripes, The Breeders, Eminem, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, The Beatles, and Fiona Apple.

I'd have to say I like most types of music. Jazz, Techno, Classical, Broadway, Opera, Classic Rock, Rock, Alternative, Swing, Oldies, Choral, Pop, very little Country, even less Rap, World Music, the list goes on and on. You name it, I've probably heard a few things from the genre that I like. :)

sure thing, there are several here :)

i would recommend "wahka wahka", "the pages within", "hard luck song" or "total domination". if you like any of those then you might like some of the others.

I had some trouble playing / dowloading (still have actually), but my genius brother helped out.

I liked "Wahka Wahka" best. And "Hard Luck Song". (And this little pic). But I think the first is a little better, it's more powerful, in a way.

But "Talib Kweli Already Did It" qualifies as the best song title. :D

Who writes the songs and lyrics?

cool Debo, i'm glad you liked it. :D

as for the songwriting, it is very much a collaborative effort. we each write our own lyrics, or sometimes write them together, and we compose the music together, although sometimes one of us will come up with a musical track on his own that we all like and we end up using for a song.

Ah yes, that's the best way, I think. It keeps the band alive.

When I was in a band, I had to come up with the lyrics and melodies all the time, which was pretty strenuous. Especially when "they" didn't like it.

yeah, that would be really tough Debo, i can't imagine having to come up with all the creativity for my whole band, i'm sure our music would really suffer if that was the case, our songs usually sort of "grow" out of collaboration. still, i admire those visionaries who are able to create amazing music on their own.

and Erik, i would say we perform live about once a month, sometimes more, but sometimes like now we go a couple months without playing at all.

But there is a bit of a music scene, Del? That's what I understood from the site.

in my town there is a small music scene with a few cool bands. unfortunately there are no good all-ages venues so we either have to play at a bar, which we usually do, or pay to set up our own show at "The Elks' Club" or something like that. we also play some shows out of town in places like seattle and portland.

I know JediSenoj likes classical music so I'll get at least one response to this. :) Anyway, who are some of you favourite composers to listen to? What particular pieces really grab you?

I'm listening to the Dead Man Walking score at the moment; it's one of my favourite albums. It features Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and lots of Indian music. Absolutely beautiful stuff.

I listen to classical music sometimes, but normally just on the way home from work and stuff. I found this great radio station on the weekend that plays music in 48 different languages. They had some fantastic songs that reminded me of 'Jaan Pehecan Ho' from Ghost World. Stuff you really need to dance around the living room to.

    :)
