Just something for anyone who's interested to discuss...

Do you think that Luke had slight Force abilities (without control, of course) when he was a child?

This question comes from the way we see Anakin in TPM being able to perform some Jedi traits, such as "seeing things before they happen" and fast reflexes.

Obviously, I know that it wasn't shown or mentioned in the OT because Lucas probably hadn't thought of the idea then, but I'd be interested to hear other's views in a kinda EU way.

One time, Beru lost one of her tools. Luke closed his eyes and said "it's under the couch." Owen was furious with him.

Cool point! I would imagine he has some kind of force powers. However, he most likely would not know it is the force and be like, "Hey, cool I can ride my bike without even sitting on the seat!" Stuff like that.

I was going to do some of that in a Young Luke fan-fiction I was working on. Luke would do something, and Biggs would comment, "Hey, you must have some magic powers, Luke," and Luke just laughs it off.

Maybe Luke's ability to "bullseye womp-rats in his T-16 back home" was meant by Uncle George to help highlight his latent Force abilities, which ties into EP I... but I doubt it... ;)

Thinking back, there's no indication in ANH to indicate that Luke had previously exhibited any latent Force powers. In his training session with Obi-Wan in the Millenium Falcon en route to Alderaan, you get the impression that this was all completely new to him.

He probrably didn't use the force to his own knowledge.

when ben was instructing him, he was trying to command the force to do what he wanted, instead of where he had probrably used it without knowing while he was young.

I think he felt something of the Force or that his senses were impacted by the Force but was totally clueless to it at that young age. But he probably never knew his potential until Obi-Wan introduced him to the Force of course.
