I can't imagine Han captaining a huge crew like that. He was losing his patience with Chewie often enough, especially at the start of ESB. He needs a ship where he can be fairly hands-on and do most of the work himself.

It's exactly the kind of stunt they would pull. Bold, slightly crazy, and probably not quite working exactly as planned. And what an entrance. maybe they've rigged it somehow. Who knows? I just like the idea.

Here are a bunch of shots and CGI fan art of the Scorpio for those poor souls who have never seen Blake's 7 season 4:

In summary, brown freighters are fairly cool!

"They're running around with guns, lightsabers..."

Now, I know that lightsabers (multiple) is a given, but it was still awesome to hear him insinuate that there are multiple saber-wielders.

Han and Chewie in their tricked out Corellian (hey, it's Han) Corvette. They made a lot of special modifications themselves.

I always liked the original in ANH so seeing a new version of that ship would be cool.

I would have thought Han would have lost the Falcon by now and is trying to get it back. He did give it to Lando in ROTJ. In 30 years who else might he have given it too?

Actually that's the engine room, in more recent interpretations of the Falcon's layout. Although some cargo can be stored in it - it's usually transferred to the other bays.

What's that pic from - early West End Games material?

The most recent source to do the Falcon:

In one of the EU books, after Han loses Chewbacca, he goes all "mid-life crisis" on everyone and paints the Falcon Matte Black.

Yup. And the Falcon in ROTS has blue markings - at least when shown in more detail - don't think they can be seen on the actual image:

    This site:

goes into some depth on the many portrayals of the Falcon's interior - though it predates Millennium Falcon Owner's Workshop Manual somewhat, and a few of the webpages don't function.

That was superseded a long time ago in a galaxy very, very near by later deckplans (such as the ones in ICS and the Haynes manual). Heck, that one still has the docking rings as escape pods!

The ICS deck plan suffers from being tied to the 26.7m length - and doesn't show as much of the interior as the Haynes book does - but it was probably a good starting point for the later Haynes book to work from.

Why on earth would a cargo ship need two gunners as a standard part of its crew?!!

I would definitely love to see more of the Falcon, though. Some of my very favourite scenes of the whole saga are the quiet time Han and Leia spend hiding in the asteroid in ESB, both because it builds their relationship and because the Falcon really does start to feel like home: a place of security and sanctuary in an otherwise dangerous universe.

When your cargo is illicit and/or highly valuable, you may have to fight off some unsavory beings who would want some easy profits by stealing yours. Especially when you tend to work in the more lawless sections of the galaxy.

For shooting at marauding pirates maybe?

In practice, the gunners are probably not just gunners - do other things - but can be called on to man the guns.

In Tyrant's Test, the Falcon is "rated for two people in-system, and for four people for interstellar work" - so it's supposed to be crewed by 4, and is undermanned when Han & Chewie are piloting it on their own.

LOL. I don't know how many of you here also follow the Wife in Space blog but it now has a spin-off called Wife and Blake. The Wife is now up to Season 4 of B7 and, by coincjidence, in her latest commentary, posted last night, she actually notes how the Scorpio is a cross between the Millenium Falcon and the Tantive IV. :)

The new cockpit seats look like they were stolen from the Enterprise-D.
