MUDing

Anyone here play or used to play any MUD? I used to play Legend of the Jedi about a half a year or a year back, and it was really fun. I probably spent a year playing it altogether, which is a lot longer than i usually play for any game with graphics. I recently came across my old MUD client and in the file folder, found a log in which i laughed pretty hard when i reminiced about what happened. Ill copy and paste it here. Not too long.


Ashe curses under his breath.

Eli is sprawled out here.

You say 'Somethings come up'

Eli seductively says 'Sweet.'

Eli rises from her rest.

You say 'i have to go.'

Eli seductively says 'I'll go too.'

You say 'Alone.'

You say 'Its dangerous'

Eli seductively says 'No.'

You say 'You cant come.'

Eli seductively says 'I've seen more danger then you have.'

You say 'I can take you to the spaceport here on Lorrd and give you money for a lambda'

You say 'but thats it'

You say 'I cant let you get involved'

You shake your head.

Eli seductively says 'I used to be in the Bounty Hunter's Guild, I've seen danger.'

You say 'you might have seen more action on a holovid, but not the kind im going into'

You say 'Listen, i dont have time for this'

Eli seductively says 'I'm going.'

You shake your head.

Eli seductively says 'Yes I am.'

You say 'No, youre not'

Eli seductively says 'Want to know why?'

You say 'Whys that'

Eli seductively says 'Cuz you want me to.'

Ashe stands up straight.

You say 'You have to stay here.'

Eli seductively says 'Do you still have that lightsaber?'

You say 'There is no other way to put it'

You say 'yes i do, why?'

You shake your head.

You say 'it doesnt matter'

You say 'follow me'

Eli now follows you.

You frown.

Eli seductively says 'Hand me that lightsaber, I'll help you.'

You say 'that saber is just a toy'

You say 'it has no power really'

Eli firmly says 'I'd still like to use it.'

You say 'i can make better vibros'

You shove Eli west

You say 'leave'

You get Silver Sphere from Ammunitions

You hold Silver Sphere in your hands.

You arm Silver Sphere.

You stop using Silver Sphere.

You yell, 'now'

You yell, 'you will not follow me once i let you out'

You say 'enter'

You say 'leave'

Eli firmly says 'I have to.'

Eli examines you closely looking for weaknesses.

You gain 100 experience points from your success!
You slip Silver Sphere to Eli.

You say 'enter'

Ashe then leaves the compound, leaving Eli to her fate

Eli is shoved west.

You say 'leave'

Someone yells from the south, 'Alright alright!'

Someone yells from the west, 'Ashe let me out'

You yell, 'In a bit'

Someone yells from the west, 'I need out now!'

You yell, 'i cant let you go with me'

You hear someone yelling nearby.
Eli stops following you.
You hear a massive explosion not too far from here!

giddy happy feet run to see the explosion's damage

Eli is lying here stunned.


You get a message disk to record your note.

Eli, Sorry, but i cant let you come with me.
Best wishes. But i cant let you. Sorry.

You shake your head.

You slip a message disk to Eli.

You say '****'

You say '-=OOC=- cant drag her out of the door lol'

You say 'bah'

after numerous ic hours of pacing...

Eli is standing here.

You groan loudly.




Anyway, many fun times in this MUD, i have experienced.

 

The only MUD I ever played was jedinet. It was a lot of fun.

 

Every one of my gaming friends always make fun of me for playing MUDs because they just cant grasp how text is exciting. I say its a lot more fun because in MUDs you focus on roleplay whereas in an mmorpg you focus on building your stats and killing everything and everyone you can. In MUDs you build your stats and your fame in the world, and do it while playing the role you have chosen. Its a lot of fun. If no one has ever played one, i suggest you do so soon.

 

I played Mushes way too much, back in the day. I ended up stopping (probably like a lot of MU*ers) when gaming got bigger, and such games were replaced by the likes of Ultima Online...which actually had *graphics*

I played the original Star Wars MUSH, and Elendor. I still chat with friends I made while I was on those things.

 

I thought about playing a Star Wars one that I found some time ago, but since I didn't really have the time to spare on it, I gave up.

I watched a few colleagues play one I found amusing, since it showed lines that went something like:

'You plunge the skeleton's liver with your sword'

'The skeleton is bleeding'

and so on.
