England not taking the 3 at the end was pretty poor. Tried to do a Japan but Japan had nothing to lose. Indiscipline in the second half really cost them, Biggar just couldn't miss.

Could easily see Australia beating England now and them not making it through. Would be kinda a shame in many respects but also very lol.

NZ v Georgia 20 minutes in. Georgia have scored a try and a penalty, wasn't expecting them to have 10 on the board.

The NZ crowds with whom I've watched the Georgia and Namibia games were both most vocally supportive when those sides experienced success. The rest of those games, eh.

Agree. Far, far too many handling errors for an otherwise normal environment. This would be understandable if there was rain, but there wasn't which left me scratching my head. Granted, it was a win, but I have a feeling that the next seven days will be spent correcting this now that they are guaranteed a spot in the semi-finals.

Also, Georgia put up quite a fight, I was impressed.

Georgia had a single man rush defence that rattled the ABs. They'd better find a counter for it, because a better team will exploit that weakness to its full extent.

It's do or die day for England. If they lose to Australia later today they are out at the end of the group stage.

A tweet that made me laugh:

Being English: 1 Invent a game, 2 Get the world to play it, 3 Get the world to play it better than you, 4 Invite the world round, 5 Lose.

A bit of a shame to see the hosts out so early, but they were distinctly outplayed last night.

USA didn't even get on the board against South Africa - final score was 64-0.

This makes me feel a little better about the fact that New Zealand has only ever won the world cup when hosting.

Today's match is New Zealand vs Tonga at 8 PM UK time. For UK folks - ITV is showing England vs Estonia (football) so go to ITV4 (Sky channel 120) for the match.

Keep in mind, the US team is mostly volunteer, I recall hearing that they have around six or eight players on the team who are professional rugby athletes, most everybody else has a day job. While it is a credit to their skill and dedication, it also says a lot about the state of rugby in the US in that it is still a very niche sport which not everybody has heard of, and those who are at least aware of it have little to no idea about how it is played or how a game is run. RWC2015 is getting almost no media coverage here at all and almost nobody is aware that our team even qualified for RWC. Contrast this with football/soccer - that game has picked up steam here in the last 10-15 years and there was some media awareness of the WC last year, even more so once the US team actually got somewhere. Sadly, until the sport becomes more popular here, which due to it's similarities to American football isn't too likely, our teams will probably perform at a very moderate level until there is a greater level of interest in the sport as a whole.
