    Guys, Stephen Stanton just dropped a hint:

    Who is he? Are there clues to the identity of this #RogueOne officer in the #StarWars #Tarkin novel? Check it out :)

    If that is true then the most likely candidates are Harus Ison....and Armand Isard.

    I think its both.

    Anyway, this is the description of Harus Ison from Tarkin:

    Flanking the Dark Lord was the Deputy Director of Imperial Security Bureau, Harus Ison - a brawny, white haired, old guard loyalist with a perpetually flushed face....Tarkin watched Ison's square jaw clench...Harus Ison had been moved to the Ubiqtorate. [face_thinking]

    Ison would make sense, considering the uniform Jyn is wearing here looks similar to the garbs of an ISB Field Agent (in canon)

    -NCO-black.
    -CO-Tan/grey.
    -Grand Admiral/ISB-white.

    But I might be missing something there.

    In theory. There was a guy in white on the death star in ANH. If he was supposed to be a grand admiral, or if EU just made him a grand admiral because his uniform was different is anyone's guess.

    Your talking about Yularen and I can confirm that he is not a Grand Admiral, but the head of the ISB or another intelligence branch.

    The cape and the heavily dotted rank badge imply we are looking at someone's on par perhaps with Tarkin, thought the different titles he could hold could all greatly affect what his role in the story is:

    If he's an Intelligence Director of some kind, it would make sense for him to be the spy hunter actively seeking out the Rebels and Jyn's team, perhaps employing a mole in the Rebellion our heroes have to uncover. My one issue with that suit on an intelligence director is that the cape takes it to an ostentatious level that seems set for military fanfare, not for quiet, fascistic secret police work.

    If he's the official canonization of Grand Admiral, he would probably work more immediately as a rival to Tarkin for the Death Star's command, and most likely serve as the formidable prey that Jyn's team would target, making him martially dangerous while perhaps not the type of opponent best suited to dealing with the lateral warfare Jyn and her team would use. Like I said, the cape feels more like something a guy who wants to command conquering forces would wear, but there's no reason they have to canonize Grand Admirals at all, aside from maybe throwing Thrawn fans a bone.
