OT - Music Video Editing

Well I have decided to try a little 3-7 day project to create a LOTR music video, you know like the ones on KAZAA. I have the song and some ideas but lack one crucial element, Ripping software. What do i need to rip the DVD onto my comp so I can get the clips I need? And does anyone know aproximently how much space a 3 1/2 hour movie is going to require?

At most 7 gb i would guess because thats all the DVD can hold.

OT is all in the context, although an Origional Trilogy Music video would be just as fun, but the song I am using is called 'Lord of the Rings' by Blind Guardian... so I doubt it would be good for the OT
