How incredibly naive. Either that or it's a lie, I don't know which. Of course it was a factor. Heck, that's the only time half of you actually interact with anyone in the JCC. I think it's more insulting that you guys have the audacity to say it doesn't make a difference than it would be if you just came out and said "I made friends with him in the DL's and voted for him".

I voted for him.

I'm not a member of any group. I could care less about group membership (except my currently active membership in the PBNFAWAL...). I just happened to think he was the best of the choices presented for voting.

And Everton -- you're stealing my jokes.

It's about the fact that the Dark Lords are getting chosen because they tend to be the only people they interact with, so the mod pool appears much smaller to them because they don't see the rest of the forum as much.


As one of the first to bring Dashy's name up, I can honestly say I do not nor have I ever had an affiliation with the Dark Lords, other than the fact that we are all Star Wars fans. But that applies to everyone here, doesn't it? I just saw a user who I thought could be a good canidate, and he was discussed, as were others.

 

I have to admit that I've never read a single one of his posts because his username annoyed me. I would've never known there was a good member behind that name. Congrats.

Seriously, no offense to the guy/girl, but what's with all these newbies being made into mods?

 

Depends if you think the time at which they joined the JC is the be-all-and-end-all of how well they could do the job, I guess. Considering the vast amount of people around the boards that have registered over the last year or two (including me), a few of them becoming Mods isn't a noteworthy percentage or anything.

I just feel that senority should come into play when selecting a mod, recognizing someone for putting in the effort of posting for 3 or 4 years. Now, I'm not saying that an oldbie should be modded just because they are an oldbie, but I think that serious consideration should be given to someone who has beenher since the 90s because of their obvious dedication.

 

Experience and time posting is taken into account, but it?s just one of many factors considered.
