Ok kids, I thought I'd head this one off at the pass. If you have a complaint about another member or you have reason to believe that a member has done something to violate the terms of service or the law and you decide to inform a mod or administrator, you have certain responsibilities.

You must either provide proof, which may entail revealing your "source", allowing the admin to view your PMs or whatever else is necessary OR you must immediatly inform the admin that you have no proof but would like them to investigate the matter for you. At that point your involvement ends and the admin will investigate the matter and you're in the clear whether it turns out to be true or not. DO NOT state your accusation as fact without anything to back it up. That is called slander and that can and will be a bannable offense.

This is not to discourage anyone from informing the administration of any percieved wrongdoings. As always, we welcome your help in that. This is to prevent unproven accusations from being stated as fact and to avoid any unpleasantness that slander can cause. End of speech.

There are three threads on this topic alone in the ModSquad. We are taking it very seriously.

There should be some news later tonight or tomorrow."

Is this the announcement you speak of, Bane?

Thank you, PBra. Sounds fair, right, correct, and proper.

It's amazing that it's come to the point where common sense now has to be classified as 'policy'.

I'd much rather people realise that breaking the TOS, even via PM, isnt exactly a great way to be a productive member of the JC.

Btw, great thread title....you couldnt think of the right word, and just went with the all-encompassing 'Stuff'? :p

Well there you go, I thought this was already policy. ;)

And I agree - this really is just common sense - I worry about those who didn't use any before... ah well. Now you can ban the fools for it. [face_devil] ;) :p

DarthSapient told me that he doesn't even like Star Wars at all, but prefers the social commentary of Star Trek: Voyager. I expect the Administration to take the appropriate steps to deal with this matter.

    AYBABTU?

This policy has been discussed on the Mod Squad in great detail. This thread acts as a reminder to everyone that they can be held accountable for what they say via PM, as well as on the boards.

    EDIT: Spelling

This is an outrage! The AC wasn't consulted on this matter! :p

Seriously, I thought all new policies needed a thread in MS and a thread in the AC for two weeks before they became official.

It's not so much a 'policy' as it is a reminder, I think. PB just doesn't have the faintest clue what he's doing, and I am stating this as a fact.

I just assumed it was a "policy" since the first word in the title of the thread is "Policy". :p
