Oh, come ON - No one is ready for sex their first time. I don't trust people who had non-awkward first sexual experiences.

And trust me, when I had my first experience, I knew exactly what I was doing, had been dreaming about it for quite some time, and planning to make it happen.

It in no way adversely affected me and I would assert that it helped to ease me into a less affected and nervous dating life than most teens.

I think that those who think some youths aren't able to cope with sexuality, haven't been youths in too long.

 

When you say youth, what age bracket are you talking about?

Yes we need to get off the topic of age and get on the topic of porn again. We slipped from the topic at hand to age of consent. Regardless of how old people think kids should be to have sex, doesnt change the fact of how old they should be to be placed on web pages.

 

There really isn't much topic to get back to. What consenting adults do or watch in the privacy of their own homes is nobody's business.

Some may view it as immoral to watch or create porn (talking about legal porn now) but should we outlaw it based one's own subjective tastes. Would those who want porn criminalized like it of some of their actions were criminalized by tastes.

My own code of ethics comes from basketball: No Harm, No Foul. Do whatever you want. Look at whatever you want. Whatever. Just as long as it doesn't hurt someone physically or directly.

 

The two topics are related, so they can be discussed together. But maybe a seperate thread can be made on the issue of age of consent??

 

As to getting back on topic.

I'm very surprised that I haven't seen many, if any, posts stating how porn is distructive and harmful.

Not that I really want to see such posts.

We're all intellectuals here. But it's only a matter of time before someone says porno is the reason for the downfall of society here.

 

Ok, lemme say something: When I suggested that child porn should be legal if the child is consenting, I was raising a serious point. It's disgusting, yes, to most if not all of us. Personally I don't care either way, but I think it's important that we look at this objectively and not let emotion or personal disposition get in the way of considering something that has implications for everyone, of all different opinions.

Now, let's just say you have a...young boy of age 8 who wanted to become a porn star. Kind of like kids who become actors, except that this boy wants to star in a movie of considerably higher maturity rating (like Rated X, or NC-17, or whatever). He wants to do it. Let's say his parents are ok with it too. Should he be allowed to do it?

 

You still need limits Kuna. If you just have to get a kids permission to have sex, what will stop some pedophiles from going up to a 7 year old and saying "Hey little girl I'll give you candy if you have sex with me." Sometimes kids think sex is a grown up thing to do so they'll agree and think theyre being grown up, in the end they get hurt, perhaps they wish later in life to have saved themsevles for their spouse, but because someone took advantage of them, that can't happen.

At one point I read that intelligence groups like FBI said there were like over a thousand underground kiddie porn sites, and it was growing mostly because it was illegal and had to constantly move. (which meant members paid more than once to get in) Someone suggested perhaps a porn site set, controlled and maintained by the FBI or someone should be set up, and pedophiles can view without fear of being busted. I have mixed feelings about this, on one hand I think it is appalling, on the other hand if it can prevent people molesting their daughters to get quick cash, or at least deter it, then maybe its worth it. I dunno.
