    SW Robot Chicken III announced!

Adult Swim is planning to complete the Robot Chicken: Star Wars trilogy. The network said at its upfront party Wednesday night that it is going forward with a third, and most likely final, Star Wars themed episode of its stop-motion series Robot Chicken (?don?t worry, we aren?t planning a prequel trilogy?). Robot Chicken has aired two Star Wars themed episodes already, most recently last November. The network didn?t have a launch window for the new special, but when asked, a network executive targeted this Fall.

I wonder if the lack of a prequel trilogy is more due to Seth Green's new stop-motion series that was recently announced (which perhaps suggests RC will be winding down?).

I don't understand this "no prequel" complain. The two Robot Chicken specials we've had so far were peppered with PT satire throughout. Granted, the Classic Trilogy dominates, but that's because the creators are obviously bigger fans of the classics and the classic material is more widely known and ripe for satire. We've had, though, a couple of Jar Jar scenes, Darth Maul's and Mace's deaths, Anakin and the younglings and other cameos. Granted, it was never a "prequel special" but it's been represented.

^^ very true. I'll be just fine with one more.

Unless they start in on the Clone Wars series......that could provide some new material.

I'm assuming they mean they won't be making one that's prequel-centric. SWRC2 was meant to be ESB-centric, which is why you have so much material on the bounty hunters, cloud city, space slugs, etc. They still slipped in bits from ROTJ, AOTC, etc, though.

This is great news! Definitely something to look forward to.

And I agree with the above posts--I think the comment that "we aren't planning a prequel trilogy" was just a joking way of saying that this will probably be the final one, as both episodes so far contain a mix of Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy gags.

Of course the question now is, if they do another Jar Jar skit, will Ahmed reprise the role again?

Awesome news, there's always at least 2-3 amazing parts in each RC.

Even if that was meant only half-joking, I am really sick of this "we're too good for those prequels" stance. And besides, like others have pointed out, the previous two were mixes of the whole Saga.

Yeah, whatever, I wouldn't want one on the prequel era

EDIT- Let's not turn this into a prequel quality debate.

Because Jar Jar is funny, and a hero. But I don't really think this is the place to debate the matter. :)

Regardless of one's feelings towards Jar Jar in the films- it's hard to dislike his use in the RC series. His ghost and Geico skits were hilarious ("All sparkly-glowy!" [face_laugh]).
