Dun dun dun! Ryan Smyth was traded today to the NY Islanders. This is probably the biggest trade for the Oilers since Messier and Gretzky. This trade definetly overshadows Messier Night at Rexall Place tonight. I am going to watch the game to see if Kevin Lowe is booed when he walks out onto the ice.

Just like the Avs trading Joe Sakic........

They kinda had to, it was the trade deadline. ;)

Kevin Lowe did NOT come out onto the ice for tonight's ceremony.

    I'm slightly nauseous... [face_sick]

I was hoping they were just renting him out til he became an UFA in early July, but everyone's saying it's unlikely we'll get him back now. :'(

I thought the oil still had a chance for the playoffs before this, but not now.

So I guess that means the golf season might be starting early for them. I was totally shocked like everybody. I can see why Lowe did it, but it doesn't make it right. I guess he was being interviewed on sportsnet or some show like that and he said that he was going to get him back in the summer. Then went oops did I say to much. Hopefully the Isle don't sign him in the mean time.

I was watching "Cheers" one afternoon, and they interrupted the show with a live announcement from Molson House, it was Gretz, in this nice dress-shirt& tie....next thing he's crying. This was the day that I first found out what "trade" meant.

Though, I haven't watched hockey, that seriously over the years, I have grown to understand that there 'r other factors in play. One, significantly, money, (in Ryan's case). His company could not agree over $5 million per year, and all it came down 2 was...$20,000 dollars. The golden years of hockey r' over. Money talks, or talent walks.

It might be dangerous to wear my Avs jersey around the city now. :p

The first time Edmonton and Colorado play at Rexall, will be a doozy of a game!
