San Diego, CA SDSWS Trip To Location Where ROTJ Was Filmed, March 8th-9th!

That's not a bad idea, inviting the other FF's to come!

 

I know at least 3 members of the IE who are planning on going!

 

i updated my photo album finally, with Brendan's pics thrown in chronologically, as well as a few shots of my loot.

 

*Yawn*

I went out to where Jabba's Sail Barge scene was filmed again this morning. Roger really wanted to visit the location and perhaps see what he could find himself. I told him I would only go if we left really early in the morning because going to the Mojave Desert in the summertime is not my idea of fun...so we left at 4:30am and got there around 7am. We brought a metal detector and a shovel, but we really didn't need them as most of the items we found were near the surface. We found lots of wood from the sail barge, including a piece from the front of the sail barge with shiny silver paint, and two other good pieces with greenish paint from the side of the sail barge. The peices were really well preserved and in great condition. We found lots of the yellowish foam from the sarlacc pit, and many pieces with pink and orange on them. We found the posts from the chain link fence, lots of nails, lots of pieces of the painted fake dunes. It seems like since we were out there in March, that more and more pieces have come to the surface. We left about 9am because at that time it was 87 degrees already, but it felt a lot hotter. So we drove back and got home at 11:30am. The trip was well worth it considering how much stuff we found and brought back in such a short period of time.


*Yawn*... I'm just tired from getting up at 3:30 this morning.

I'm not sure what that orange/pinkish material is (those aren't rocks... more like plaster of paris type material painted). I'm not sure if that is part of the sarlaac pit or not, but the colors match the pieces of latex that I have seen.
