Danni Quee opened her eyes slowly to meet a familiar pair of brandy brown eyes. Strength and happiness surged through her battered body upon seeing his face. He wrapped his arms around her, and gently lifted her into his strong arms. She buried her face against his chest.

?I?m sorry.? she said, her voice hoarse.

?Don?t apologies, none of this is your fault.? he said gently, walking towards Ezria, who stood guard at the entry to her cell.

?I?m putting you both in danger.?

?Occupational hazard.? Ezria said with a warm smile. Danni noticed the entire station was a wreck. She herself not looking as good as some of it. The last thing she remembered before losing consciousness was the entire station shaking violently, tossing her about like a rag doll. That?s where some of her injuries came from, but not all.

?I?m tired of being helpless?? she said. She looked up into Jacen?s strong eyes. ?When we get out of here, I want to learn how to not be a victim.? she said. Jacen nodded slowly, understanding her words. She wanted to devote her time to being a Jedi now, a Jedi can be a scientist as well.

?We should go before someone realizes it wasn?t the crash that blew her cell open.? Ezria said. Jacen nodded in understanding again, and followed Ezria from the cell bay.







Jacen held Danni close as they made their way through the smoking wreckage towards daylight. The closer they got, the more sinking feeling Jacen got. They were planet side now, and the force was sketchy at best, being mired by the effects of Ysalamiri? Ezria led them trough some tight spots, clearing debris with her blue saber as she went. As they finally approached the clearing, where Jacen could feel the planets warm breeze, a familiar form stepped into the opening, the sun to its back.

?No..? Danni said in a small voice. Jacen stood firm, not frightened or intimidated by the form. The force showed him he had no reason to be.

?Hello.? Jacen said simply.

?Jeedai Solo?? the deep, accented voice said.

?One of.? Jacen replied.

?I am Yul Ghael , I am here to assist you.? he said.

?Zanoma sent you?? Ezria asked.

?I am a friend to Jeedai.? the Yuuzhan Vong said. Jacen noted he wore no armor, or biotech, wielded no amphistaff or razor bugs. His clothing was artificial, quite similar to black leather jumpsuits.

?You?re unarmed.? Danni pointed out.

?One is never unarmed.? Yul said gently. Jacen nodded, and moved closer.

?I welcome your help, do you know how the others are?? He asked.

?A Large battle has begun outside, Jeedai against Sith. Two with the same face fight near the craters edge, the other in the forest clearing. Others fight Sith, and Battle droids attack. Jeedai Solo is nearly finished disabling them, Yuuzhan Vong fight them now.? he said.

?Sounds like something worth seeing.? Ezria said, arching a brow.

?It is wrong. ? Yul said evenly.

?Machines fighting?? Jacen asked.

?Machines being used in place of those that should be fighting, Instead they hide behind machines to destroy their enemies.?

?That?s the old Empire in a nutshell.? Ezria said. Jacen was about to comment on that when a spike of pain drove into his side, causing him to crumple to his knees. Danni was still safe in his arms, but the pain caused him to cry out. It took him a moment to realize it wasn?t his pain he was feeling? Danni?s green eyes met his in alarm. Ezria knelt beside them, her blue eyes wide.

?Who?? she asked.

?Anirenn?she..? he trailed off, reaching out to the younger Jedi. By Yul?s words, she was fighting the clone by the cliffs where rivers of molten lava flow where clear water rivers should have been.

?Jacen?? Danni said, cupping his face in her soft hands. Jacen opened his eyes.

?She?s?.gone?? he said, he choked the words out. Danni?s eyes went wide.

?That?s not possible?.? Ezria said. Jacen looked up at her.

?I felt it.? he said. She stood

What is Ezria talking about? Cant end like what? something to do with the past...

Oh, no. Poor Anniren. I hope she's okay. Good that Danni is going to make more of an effort with her Jedi training, too.

I liked the little interchange between Anakin and Jacen.

Its good to see Jacen rescue Danni. And I've been waiting for her to focus more on her training in the real EU forever.
