Lit Should the post-ROTJ EU become an offical alternate reality?

That would be stupid if they retconned the Vong out of existence. I enjoy references to the Vong pre-NJO. It was nice we even got a reference to them in KoTOR. If the Vong are erased, said references to them wouldn't make much sense.

 

Must everything have a protagonist? Protagonists are cliche.

But without the post-ROTJ EU...

Canderous saw a starship that looked like an asteroid and shot molten projectiles. There's also the story the Death in the Slave Pits of Lorrd. Star Wars prose is so full of idioms that I don't think four obscure references are going to be a nuisance.

If the Far Outsiders aren't retconned and there's no Yuuzhan Vong invasion, one can simply presume that Quoreal was not overthrown and the Yuuzhan Vong invaded a different galaxy (or their worldships died in the intergalactic void in the process of traveling to another galaxy).

There is also a Marvel Comic with a Vong creature I believe. Or retconned to be a Vong creation anyway.

 

Great theories. I'm so glad you're sharing them. But as I said, the question is whether or not there will ever be a canon retcon.

 

You're asking a question without an answer then, and there's really nothing to discuss.

With what happened post-NJO, I'd say it would be for the better.

 

They would have found another excuse to rehash the prequels, but with Anakin this time. As bad as it is, it could have been much worse.

At least there would be no Vergere to be a Sith.

 

But that would also mean there would be no Vergere as she was characterized in the NJO.

 

Despite Legacy of the Force and whatever else, Jacen Solo's character arc and heroic journey is, in my opinion, the best writing that has been produced by the Star Wars Expanded Universe, so much so that it transcends being mere spin-off fiction and is worthy of standing on its own. Losing that, regardless of whether it's been destroyed 'canonically,' isn't worth it to eliminate what followed.

 

NJO Jacen's story was perfect as much as I hate how he began it. We can keep that but get rid of the rest.

 

His journey is earned. Much in the same way that Luke began as a slacker that wanted to waste time with his friends at Tosche station, Jacen had to start out as a teenager that's got it all figured out and earn his ascension to heroism.

 

True true. But of the 3 Solo kids he annoyed me the most at the beginning and don't even get me started on after the NJO.
