    I'm all for remaking the trilogy! In fact I think Spielberg would be the perfect director to do it! And just to save you guys from going to all the trouble...

    ::Luke_Clone crucifies himself::

    I voted NO.

    I posted this already once in a thread that got locked:

    I like the idea of a remake a whole lot better than I like the idea of Lucas just changing things around with the old film right now. If he really wants the PT and OT to fit together well, this is a better option IMO.
    It would be somewhat interesting...all new technology, actors, and all the CG you could possibly want.
    It's a good idea. The purists would be happy because then Lucas would quit screwing with the originals. The people that want all the movies to fit together would be happy. Lucas would be happy cause then he could do everything he wants and play around with all his new technology. The only people that wouldn't be happy are the people who liked the SE's. And they're weirdos anyways.
    (Just kidding to all the SE-lovers. I'm sure you're all very good people beneath all that medication.)

    The THX editions weren't bad all. What's up with you? And I love the SE.

    Definitely not. After AOTC I watched the OT again and I have to say, they were 10X better than TPM or AOTC because of the great chemistry between Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill. This is not in scenes with stunning FX or earthshattering revelations, it's the quality of the pacing, the way the dialogue (though cheesey) snaps back and forth, setting the mood, or making you laugh. They also make the other characters shine, particularly Chewie and C3PO, whose acid comments about Solo are priceless. More importantly, 3PO is genuinely funny in the OT, wheras in the PT, he's a jackass. I think the trio of Fisher, Ford and Hamill worked together particularly well, as seen in the SW to Jedi documentary, where they discuss how to deliver the lines in ROTJ about 3PO being a "god" to the Ewoks. Harrison is stressing how to deliver the lines to give them a more comic feel - and it works. Without wishing to disrespect Natalie Portman et al, they just don't have the same spark as the OT actors, possibly because Harrison was confident enough to insist on changes on set.

    How can you sat the THX editions were "raping" the OT. They were not at all altered, only presented in letterbox and with remastered sound. I cannot believe you would rather watch the original VHS version that is formated to fit the screen, you miss everything that happens on the sides of the screen (i.e. Djas Puhr, Amanaman, etc...)

    In the pre-THX days, space was brown! :)
    Actually, my boyfriend has the same stance regarding them. He thinks it's their only "true" form.

    And I agree with all who say that the OT as it stands (THX, widescreen, non-SE, that is) is the best version out there and one of my favorite movies of all time. But if I have to decide between watching the films I love get changed around over and over and just having the whole thing done new, I would go with the new ones. At least then you wouldn't have to watch them if you didn't want to. I mean, if Lucas heard that someone was going to make his films new and he could have a hand in it, or if he even did them himself, then maybe he would leave the originals alone.

    YES!!!! I mean dont you think a computer generated Han Solo character beats that worthless performance by Harrison Ford? And they could do Vader in computer graphics too!!!

    HOMER: Ahhhh! No! Satan!

    Seriously, pherhaps we've seen SW so much we want to see something new. More events with Luke Han, and Leia.

    We sliced and diced the events of these classic films. That is why a minority wants change. They want to see something differnt.

    If the OT is redone I hope there is always the orginal DVD version aviable.
