Star Trek: Dream Team - (results now in!)

There's been lots of Trek, right? Lots of great crews... well sorta.

What I propose is we decide on our dream Star Trek crew. Who do we all think would make the bestest line up in teh whole of teh 24th century? Wouldn't that be like... the best?

Well you'll be delighted to know we can do exactly that. In this very exciting thread. Right here.

Here are lists of all the relevant players, and I ask each of you to pick one person from each category and post your choices using the handy list at the end of this post. When everyone's had their say, we can tot up the votes and reveal our 'Dream Team'.

If you wish to have people double up on responsibilities, then simply enter the same name in different categories - but you know, keep it true to the show, eh.

Note 1: You cannot pick Jadzia Dax and Ezri Dax in the same crew.

Note 2: You may pick three Wild Cards.

Note 3: You can choose not to have a Counselor and you can choose not to have a Communications Officer. This is because not all series made use of these ranks.

Great thread idea Everton and this is really hard to do because I want to retain some of the chemistry between the characters e.g. Kirk/Spock/Bones, Odo/Quark, Julian/Garak or some romances e.g. Miles/Keiko Ezri/Julian, Tom/B'Elanna and on.

BTW wasn't Data always the science officer in TNG + movies? The guy who scans things, while the helm was done by Geordi (first season), that Bajoran woman (various episodes) + random cast member?

Anyway my list:

Captain: Jean-Luc Picard tough pick between Benjamin, Picard and Kirk with Archer as distant fourth.

First Officer: Spock My favourite between the bunch Kira second only because I know I'm going to pick Odo later on. T'Pol would have been third if I picked Trip as chief engineer...

Chief Engineer: Montgomery Scott ... but I didn't Yes I picked Scotty for the accent.

Tactical: Worf It was between Worf, Natasha Yar, Jadzia Dax. Worf seems better suited for the job

Security: Odo Worf is already in tactical. So I picked Odo, with picking Odo that does mean I have to pick Quark as Wild Card

Ensign: Nog Easily the best character out of all the ensigns, Hoshi second, Chekov third.

Science Officer: Data Favourite, Jadzia was close second because I picked Worf. Sadly I enough I don't have Geordi/Miles as engineer so he doesn't have friends (there's always the internet for him )

Chief Medical Officer: Julian Bashir Not really a fan of "The Doctor", Pulaski nor Phlox. So its between Bashir, Bones, Beverly. I have Spock so I should pick Bones yet no Kirk I have Picard so I should pick Beverly yet I never liked the thing between the two so I went for Bashir.

Helm: Hikaru Sulu I'm not sure if I'm allowed to pick Data again and because I picked Bashir I need to have Ezri so...yeah.

Communications Officer: Uhura Woah picking between two under developed characters how hard. I like Uhura's voice better

Counselor: Ezri Dax I picked Bashir so I need to have Ezri.

Wild Card #1: Quark No brainer, I have Odo so I need to pick Quark

Wild Card #2: Garak No brainer, I have Bashir so I need to pick Garak

Wild Card #3: Guinan Tough pick, between Guinan, Morn and Rom.


Woah this was harder then I expected. I think I screwed with medical and helm because of my fanboyism with Bashir/Ezri Dax (in my defence I was hoping for Bashir/Dax couple since I started watching DS9 as a 9 year old). Also by picking Data and Bashir I should have picked Miles as Chief Engineer but fake accents are cool.

Some suggestions:
add Hoshi to comm officer
add Jake to wild card
add Barclay to wild card
add Morn to wild card (hey he appeared in more episodes then Nog!)
add Martok to wild card

Also add a bad guy section, because I really want to pick a Jeffrey Combs character such a great Trek actor.

I agree with your modifications Omega. I'll edit them in.

EDIT: Bad Guys are gonna come later... depending on how successful this is to begin with.

Captain: Jean-Luc Picard - because he's the very definition of authority.

First Officer: William T. Riker - I think the relationship between him and Picard is the best Captain / First Officer relationship of the lot.

Chief Engineer: Miles O'Brien - He's gritty, he's real, and has a good line in "Bloody Hell!"

Tactical: Tuvok - I think he's the best Vulcan ever. Yes, Spock is Spock, but Tuvok is really great IMO.

Security: Odo - Because he always gets his man, and had the charm to tame Kira.

Ensign: Nog - because I think he showed the best development over a series run of any character. Unexpected and delightful.

Helm: Tom Paris - Best pilot there is! If I needed anyone to pilot my Starship out of a tricky patch... it would be him.

Chief Medical Officer: The EMH - Hilarious.

Science Officer: Data - So that Spot could be onboard. A ship needs a cat.

Communications Officer: Hoshi Sato - Because I really like the thing Uhura and her wore in their ears... but Sato is hotter.

Counselor: My crew doesn't need one. If there's an emergency, the Doctor can work his magic.

Wild Card #1: Guinan - As mysterious as they come.

Wild Card #2: Garak - Ditto Guinan... but when necessary he can jettison his morals; something most Starfleet officers cannot do.

Wild Card #3: Rom - Because he really tries... and it's possible Leeta might come along.

How can you not like the Doc.(Joe) that is the name he picked for himself in Endgame. The Doc is so funny. He has the best bed side manner.

A doctor, not a dictionary. You need him to complete the chemistry with Spock and Kirk.

Science Officer: Data
Not fit for being XO, but he's still very competent and would work well with Spock.

Counselor: Deanna Troi

She's got some uses in engineering, medicine and other fields.

First Officer: Spock. Tough pick between him and Kira, but the scene with the punk on the bus in The Voyage Home is my favorite in all of Trek.
Chief Engineer: Montgomery Scott. Here, it's not even close.
Tactical: Worf
Security: Worf. I like Odo, but the ability to shapeshift makes some things too easy for him.
Ensign: Nog. I don't like Wesley, Chekov never interested me, and I haven't watched enough of Voyager to get attached to any characters.
Helm: Sulu. Although I liked him more as a captain in The Undiscovered Country.
Chief Medical Officer: Beverly Howard Crusher. Sorry, McCoy.
Science Officer: Jadzia Dax. Why did they have to kill her? (I know. Terry Farrel wanted to leave the show.
Communications Officer: Uhura. Didn't watch enough Voyager... didn't watch any Enterprise
Counselor: Deanna Troi. Although, to be honest, I don't see a reason to have a counselor at all.
Wild Card: Ro Laren. Sure, canonly she's probably dead, but I liked the couple of episodes with her.
Wild Card: Garak. "But the question, Doctor, is just who is guilty of what?"
Wild Card: Sarek. Don't ask why.
