FF:NZ Star Wars: A New Hope Deleted Scenes

I'm a UK Star Wars fan and I have a question for any NZ fans who are old enough to remember seeing the original cinema release of A New Hope in New Zealand in 1977/78.

When the movie was released, I was living in New Zealand at the time, which is where I first saw it as a kid.

Anyway, for years I have been positive that the version of the movie that I saw was the version that had the deleted scene with Biggs and Luke's friends. I am also pretty sure that I remember seeing other deleted scenes too.

Is there anyone else who saw the original release of the movie in New Zealand, who remembers seeing any deleted scenes? (I saw the movie in Wellington).

 

Images from the deleted scenes (well, Biggs) were in the A4 sized picturebook. People claiming to have seen the lost scenes are always told that's where they're getting the mental images from.

Having said that I have vague recollections of Luke watching the Star Destroyer / Blockade runner battle, through macrobinoculars from Tatooine.

But then I also though TIE fighters were on the goodies side, never saw Owen & Beru's bodies and thought stormtroopers were robots.

The 7 year old mind is a hard one to fathom at times.

Urban Legend: The footage of Luke and Biggs at Anchorhead appeared in a few early screenings of Star Wars, and was shown when the film first aired on TV.
