I suppose looking at it through slightly objective eyes the young Han Solo one is a no-brainer. I still don't agree with the Boba Fett one. He wasn't designed to be a character who can carry his own movie. But hey, I can be proven wrong. Looks like Joe Johnson is going to get his wish.

Hmmm. I could see them wanting to do more with Han. They would need a really good actor to pull it off and a really good script. I could see lots of fun with Jabba, but shoehorning Vader into a Han movie might be a bit much, I think.

Awesome. JJ Abrams for episode 7. Kasdan consulting. Spinoffs movies about Young Han, Boba Fett and Yoda.
Seems like Disney knows what's doing so far.

I could care less about an Han Solo movie. A Boba Fett movie was expected, and I hope they hire Morrison.

Wow. This could work. Temuera Morrison should definitely play Boba Fett, although the helmet should be kept on most of the time. Add Darth Vader, Han in Carbonite, the Slave I, Jabba's palace, etc. and make yourself an awesome bridge film between Empire and Jedi...but only if there's a good story. I'm okay with Joe Johnston directing, although he hasn't really proven himself as a great director yet. Captain America was uneven and don't even get me started on JP3.

Also, a young Han Solo movie would be pretty cool too. I'm hoping Jon Faverau or Robert Rodriguez get the gig.

A Han Solo film could be fun but it will definitely be hard to imagine anyone else in that role other than Harrison Ford. Please don't shoehorn Vader into a Solo film though. Vader in a Boba Fett film would work IMO because it always seemed to me that they worked together often.

Not excited for somebody other than Ford to play Han.

I'd definitely be down with this. Garrett Hedlund is the perfect choice. Do you hear me LFL?

I don't buy any of it. I think that there are probably a bunch of pitches at this point. But I don't think anyone has a clue as to what the stories actually are yet.

I would be willing to bet that the stories are going to be secondary characters that are introduced in episodes 7,8,9.

I liked A C Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy- though that begins with Han at 18.

A very young Han, still with Garris Shrike's band, could work.

Or, for that matter, Han at the academy, Han rescuing Chewie from Imperial Officer Nyklas, and being kicked out- could work- the book doesn't cover that period. Ends with Han & Chewie flying off into the sunset, about to have their first adventure.

If an older Han played by Harrison appears in the ST trilogy I wouldn't want a Han spin off starring another younger actor going on at the same time.

Personally, the original "Han Solo adventures" stuff by Del Ray was much better. Brian Daley pretty much nailed Han Solo in those books.

    Much more entertaining stories imo.

Harrison Ford made Solo his own. I guess you could have a teenage Han film, that might work, but I'd rather see the Fett film or a Yoda flick. Ideally I'd like to see the live action TV series that's gone by the by put on to the silver screen. Could Ahsoka get her own film? Would Dave Filoni et al really write her off as another casualty of Order 66?

An animated CGI movie would work REALLY well for a Han Solo movie imo.

Whoops, looks like common sense wins again.
I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few standalone films, Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga. We still plan to make Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 roughly over a six-year period of time, starting in 2015. But there are going to be a few other films released in that period, too.

Yeah sure Teenage Han Solo. Looks like Revan, Thrawn, Kyle Katarn and Vos are still more likely

If Yoda could be called "not part of the overall saga" why not Fett? His role is not that much more relevant than Yoda's.

You are misplacing the emphasis. More correctly it should be Larry Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are both working on films derived from great Star Wars characters that are not part of the overall saga.

I bet you anything Kasdan is writing the Han Solo film.
