While I've seen a lot of fan theories that only their "growth to adulthood" was accelerated and after that, they aged normally, most sources have contradicted this and gone with continuous rapid aging.

While biologically separate processes, the rapid growth is a good idea to get more years of use out of your clones, since they do live shorter lives due to having shorter telomeres allowing for fewer cycles of mitosis.

They age faster, remember in AOTC, they have accelerated growth because otherwise, it would take a lifetime for them to be ready for war. They would obviously die of old age much faster than a non clone.

Surely they would all be dead by the time of TFA?

The absolute least of my cares revolves around what happened to the Jango clones. Good riddance. Don't even need an explanation for what happened to them. Just glad they're gone.

In AOTC it was stated that the clones age twice as fast as normal humans (with the exception of Boba Fett, of course). The first clones were created shortly after TPM, so ten years later in AOTC, they are 20 and therefore ready for service in the GAR.
We know that Rex, Wolffe and Gregor will come back in season two of Star Wars Rebels. This takes places some 28 years after TPM, so Rex is biologically 56 in Rebels.
TFA is some 66 years after TPM, the clones would be 132 by then.
So no, there won't be any Jango Fett clones in TFA (Boba might be alive, but I doubt that he appears in the movie).

I never saw the scene where Kamino was suddenly blown apart and everybody forgot how to do their jobs as damn good cloners. And unused DNA survives being frozen. Just saying.

This "Jango Fett clones discussion" is somewhat redundant with some discussions that took place before in the Stormtroopers thread... so: thread merge.

The clones weren't all grown in TPM though. We see embryonic clones in AoTC. And it's possible new ones were being started as late as RoTS.

Those would still be ancient at 106 in clone years (53 years after ROTS), it is true.

real talk the real tragedy in Star Wars is the clones. that's some Never Let Me Go **** right there.

    like really it kind of bothers me. they're presented as disposable in the films but it's probably the darkest thing in the series. ;_;

I wonder if JJ will give us a reverse scenario of the opening of IV. In that film the Corellian soldiers lined up along the corridors of Tantive IV as they waited for stormtroopers to invade their ship and commence a battle. For Episode VII could JJ switch it up by giving us another heavy battle opening, this time from the point of view of the Stormtroopers (including Finn, Phasma)? The stormtroopers could be waiting for the the doors of their dropship to open and for the deadly shootout that will immediately follow. That could be so cool.

Based on the footage we have seen, and the MSW rumors we have read, yeah. That's a very good bet.

I love that there is so many variations in the stormtrooper armour designs and that there are different weapons, like flame throwers.

I was concerned that Abrams would use one armour type and that wouldn't have been great after the Clones so many different designs and specialised armour. I'm very glad to see my concerns squashed. :)

I hope that we see the Stormies and Imperials in general finally treated as actualised people. It's time to see that on screen.

Finn, his buddy (who I still think is Pip) and Phasma certainly seem to be steps in that direction.

I was wondering about this too.

Humanising the other stormtroopers** could (possibly) diluted Finn own unmasking, but could also add depth to his character by showing that these soldiers are not faceless drones and his former comrades and friends.

EDIT: the rank and file, not Phasma. ;)

    Because everybody's human, and nobody's wrong... ;)

If I had a dollar for every time you've played the "everybody's human" card, I could retire today.
