I think this is honestly more realistic.
    Episode VII - December 2015.
    Spinoff - December 2016.
    Episode VIII - December 2017.
    Spinoff - December 2018.
    Episode IX - December 2019.
    Spinoff - December 2020.

6 new films, two different trilogies. The Spinoff Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy.

And 2021 starts the disney era of Star Wars films, that are not based on George Lucas treatments.

And 2031 is when we finally get an Avengers/SW crossover.

Yes but would they really end with a spin off?

I don't think they'll ever end, George Lucas told them, they now had enough material, characters, and story ideas to make films for the next 100 years.

It's funny, actually. As a relatively young man, whenever I contemplate death, it's always something to the effect of worrying about my wife and kids getting along without me.

Well, it was. Now it's all variations on a theme of being pissed off over missing new Star Wars.

    BEST. POST. OVER.

It's the uniqueness of Star Wars films that I'm going to miss. Disney is a corporation. They paid several billion and they want to get their money back and profit (for the investors). I get it. Doesn't mean I have to like the upcoming oversaturation.

Yeah, but unfortunately it would be dial-up :p.

Exactly. I get Disney's logic here; "It worked for Marvel, why not Star Wars?". Personally I feel the two are apples and oranges, but that's been a sound busniess model for them. It's easy to see why they'd apply it here. And I do believe they want to make good movies, but I also believe short-term profit trumps legacy and that commercial success is more important than artistic success in their eyes.

Indeed. Witness the inflexibility over 2015 release date. Instead of May 2016 (keeping with SW legacy), we get Dec 2015 because Iger wants to beat some fiscal year goal (I forgot the particulars but something along those lines).

I agree that I will miss the uniqueness. considering their seemingly cookie-cutter methods of filmmaking over the last several years, I wonder if Disney will use the same formula with Star Wars...

however I must say that in my opinion, there is no such thing as "oversaturation" when it comes to Star Wars!! ;)

Lol, yeah, I totally understand that. I mean, I live immersed in a Star Wars saturated world anyway (From my almost daily visits to this forum and IMDB's Star Wars boards to collecting memobillia) what difference will an annual film make? I just feel there's something special about the films and I'd hate to see it watered down. Even if they're all great, at some point there's too much of a good thing. It's like eating Oreos. A few Oreos? Delicious. An entire package of Oreos? I'm puking in the toilet.
