This looks more like an exclusive floating bar than any kind of a post-funeral gathering to me. In this scene, people's clothes don't seem to be as minimalist as those of the extras in the street scene, either (looking at the skirt that peeks out from under the robe of the woman on the left).



In fact, I'm not sure if any of the filmed scenes that we know about are reminiscent of a funeral?

 

I think Rian will make something cool but quite different...something new ...

The "lived in future" was a massive feature of Star Wars (ANH) when originally released due to pretty much every previous Sci-Fi/futuristic movie showing a clean almost perfect existence in the future. This feature was one of many that made Star Wars so innivative and was emphasised by GL in the very first scene "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."

 

That's absolutely what he was going for (Lucas has even said as much). And it's obvious in the films as well, and I love it. BUT, I'm also not keen on the idea that EVERY part of the GFFA would look the same. Heck things can look quite different in certain cities on Earth, let alone a massive galaxy like this. The OT/TFA take place on the frontier and follow either poor (or at best middle class) people, or soldiers fighting in a war. So that aesthetic makes sense there. But if this is meant to be a more stable and affluent world/town, and these are the elites, then a different kind of "look" makes total sense.

 

Would be cool if it's some SW riff on a Bond style casino.

 

I totally agree and if this scene looks and feels a bit more like the PT (which I am not supporter of, neither am i a hater i should add) then that is a good thing too. I assume this part of the movie could very well include some political angle which is very much PT, also good imo.

I say this believing this will only be a relatively short part of the movie anyway and if it pleases the PT fans thats great. I will judge the scene on what it is, how it is written, shot and acted like any other movie.

 

It only looks like the PT in the sense that it seems more affluent and exotic than the more rough and tumble locations that we got in the OT/TFA. But, we've only seen a handful of leaked set photos of a relatively small area. And I'm pretty sure that they'll be doing some CGI "enhancements" later on (even TFA did quite a bit of that for a lot of it's locations). So who knows what the final product will look like.

 

I wonder what Rian thinks about this first location leaking out almost entirely. I mean, not that we know the story bits nor anything like that, but I guess most of what has been filmed has leaked out. Hopefully he is cool with it. IMO this is like "look guys, we are doing cool stuff that will make an interesting movie", without us really knowing what it is.

 

I have zero problem with a slightly more PT design aesthetic so long as it looks as well achieved as merged the practical and digital on TFA, and I can't think of a single reason why this won't be the case. I love the frontier look but also keen to see other sides of the Galaxy.

I'm really pleased I managed to find this one again! Obviously you've always got to be doubtful of 'leaks' but it certainly fits in terms of the Las Vegas style planet and the placement in the movie (one of the clapperboards seemed to suggest this is fairly late in the film).

Still believe it might mean nothing. As I said, I like this early Reddit stuff when we knew (back in Jan) nothing about it, as they will be easy to confirm as soon as some details emerge.

In order for that post to be more interesting, BdT would need to be confirmed as a bounty hunter, or at least reported by MSW. And samefor Kelly Marie role. I believe these are the kind of details that will leak during the filming.

 

What happened to that goldtone or copper-coloured speeder that we saw earlier?

I wonder if Finn and his companion are actually chasing something rather than escaping. Did something run over this blue speeder before it blew up? The stuntmen seem to be looking at something in front of them as they jump out of it.

From the pictures, it looks like Finn and KMT come upon the assassination attempt. Are they investigating, or is it chance? This reminds me of a TCW plot.

 

That speeder is cut in half. What kind of weapon could do that???

 

It looks to me that they are hurrying through the aftermath, since Space Horse is being pulled by an ATV.

 

I like this idea better, but a space horse seems like a slow mode of transportation for a chase scene (if that is the implication).

 

Ummm, yes. But it could have been the only available means of getting out of Dodge. Love this speculation. Maybe Space Horse is a Thoroughbred Space Horse.

Maybe the Space Horse is a cousin of the Lord Of the Rings Elf Horses that seriously hauled arse and helped saved Frodo in Fellowship.

 

This seems to have passed many in this thread over entirely, but a poster in the Reylo thread has been in Dubrovnik and has apparently been witness to a number of very interesting moments. All of the insights are scattered across many different posts, but they're very interesting. There's essentially no doubt that the poster has been in Dubrovnik, since they've been posting a steady stream of photos to that effect. The posts go back to Saturday (I think?), and I amalgamate them in roughly chronological order below. The poster is Sforza:

Basically, the poster was unsure about posting the full details of what they'd heard/witnessed. Another a private conversation with another poster, FrolickingFizzgig posted this summary:

From this, then, we have the following:

- Mark Hamill on set (which was already rumoured, though uncomfirmed)
- Finn and KMT's character getting cosy on the back of the space horse (which we knew, without the details of the flirtatiousness)
- A young man standing on the city walls and looking at the stars - the scene apparently has some connection to Rey's emotions

I'm sure many will dismiss this, but I personally find all of this really interesting. It's weird, disjointed and confusing enough for me to believe it more than most of the BS Reddit/4Chan rumours doing the rounds. Much of it matches up with what we already know/suspect about the shoot, though the scene where the young man was spotted and Rey's feelings were mentioned in the director's comments is very strange and almost impossible to pin down. People in the Reylo thread are speculating that the young man may have been a body double/stand in for Driver, and that the scene could be some kind of flashback.
