I have to disagree. Obi-Wan looked like he was about to croak any second. Anakin had him on his heels. Just look at any still picture of their duel, and you will see that Anakin looked much stronger, more focused and more talented.

Maul didn´t see it coming in TPM.
Obi-Wan saw it coming in ROTS.
    Nuff said really.
    Kenobi´s the greatest!

How does it justify him being the greatest? From the facts you just pointed out, it makes Obi-Wan look like a loser...;)

    GOOD for TPM's duel ending.

In TPM: Obi Wan gave it a shot.. better then falling down the pitt without a last ditch attempt. Obi Wan was fortunate Maul was overconfident.

In ROTS: Anakin could have waited for another opportunity to jump to ground and resume the duel. But he was overconfident and took the shot and failed cause Obi Wan was ready for him.

That final move sums up Anakin's character floor and also Sith tendencies of impatience, anger, etc. Its his own fault he got de-limbed.

Also, nice double meaning in 'higher ground' with moral issues for Obi Wan.

I think the explanation is very simple: Maul didn't expect Obi-Wan to suddenly have a lightsaber in his hand.

Perhaps Maul thought Obi-Wan would try and run away, or maybe he was expecting Obi-Wan to attack him with his fists. He did not, however, expect Obi-Wan to attack him with a lightsaber, and he was entirely unprepared to defend himself.

Obi-Wan, on the other hand, was more than prepared for Anakin's manuver.
