The Jedi Purges -- a Challenge /// Updated with new stories (9/18)

Purged


I know projects having to do with the Jedi Purge have been tried before. Most are abandoned in a distressingly short amount of time.

This isn?t a project. It?s really more of a challenge or an invitation to ?Come join the fun and angst?. There is no overriding story arc. There are no central characters. There is no set world (canon, or AU, or EU). All are welcome.

I just ask a few things:


1) Try and keep them to a shortish length. I?m looking for vignettes or 2-3 posters here. Anything longer, post your opening and a link to where the rest can be found.

2) We all have different ideas on how the Purges happened, who carried them out, etc. If your idea of ?how it really happened? is different from someone else?s, show us! We?re all here to share our ideas about our favorite fandom.

3) View points other than that of the Jedi are just as valid and often more interesting, don?t hold back on them if you?ve got an idea.

4) And this one?s the kicker ?. This is about the Purges. The Jedi were very nearly wiped from the face of the galaxy (Obi-Wan and Yoda are the only survivors according to canon. If you?re going to do AU, then you should probably show us a glimpse of how that?s going to affect the future of your particular AU). I?m sorry, but if we all write about ?the one that got away? there?ll be Jedi crawling out of the woodwork. The Empire would have never gotten as far as it really did and would have fallen much sooner and much more easily than it did if there were that many Jedi still around and in hiding. That having been said, I expect a whole lot of tragedy and dying.


Now, after all that? Anyone interested? I?m posting mine anyway (link to follow soon), but a little company is always appreciated.

Well, I have a whole series of things I am slowly working on in this precise area. Perhaps this "challenge" will encourage me to get cracking on them. Of course, I have at least three other things I am also working on and I keep getting sidetracked... But I will post links if and when I get to posting.

Alrighty Lilith I went ahead and did one I dusted a bunny off in the Plot bunny thread and this happened to coincide with this challenge It's a vignette from Vader's point of view as he comes across Qui-Gon's name during the Purge ..

My first, and current fiction is about the purge. One Jedi, kinda lost and confused by the purge and the changes to the Order that surely took place as the Jedi were hunted down and killed. I've done over 10,000 words so far, and I am wrapping it up in four more posts (maybe, the ideas just keep coming). It's in my sig, all OC, if that's your type of fiction.

I guess it doesn't fit the bill for this challenge, since it's a 6 poster so far, but you can always read the opening and see if you like it:
