i think they'll still take him. England are fine without Rooney for the group stages, or at least they should be. it's the last 16 onwards that they'll need him and i think he'll be fine. the only problem will be the lack of match play.

and totally jealous of Mr_Mwindu.

 

My main concern with Rooney now will be lack of match fitness and in the latter stages of the competition this could be crucial.



I personally would have Andy Johnson on high stand by now with the assumption he steps in the day before we play Paraguay just in case Rooney's recovery does go tit's up.


I would also have the team work on the assumption that Rooney will not be playing at all in the World cup just in case.


Imagine the moral boost the lads would get if he did come back fit enough for the Quarter finals.

and thats bad news re: rooney. i for one was hoping he would be fit and firing at the world cup. after his sensational performance in euro 2004, i couldnt wait to see what he could've done here, especially given the amount he has improved since.

i too worry about match fitness, it will be very tough to come in at the quarter finals and expect him to have the same impact. especially being out of football for so long and coming up against guys who have been playing the whole tournament

 

Still no word from the mods in the icon thread. We really need to get ourselves a mole in the MS. We could bribe them by paying them double what the MS pays them.
