    I find it strange that they would not feel as though they were finished with Trump once they passed those horrendous tax cuts. And I would figure that they would be greedy enough to oust him in order to keep their majorities, and Pence would be easier for Ryan and McConnell in comparison to Trump. Goes to show why we shouldn't try to predict extremists. Corrupt donors and a radical agenda are enough to mesmerize the foolhardy GOP, though I'd prefer to call it the GAP party, due to the class gaps they create, and it being the "Greedy Apocalypse Party" under Trump

    They probably don't want the "shame" of having impeached a Republican president, even one as repugnant as Trump. Even as embarrassing as he is, he's still mostly following a Republican conservative agenda (steal from the poor to give to the rich), which they like. Things would be a lot more efficient and stable with Pence, but Trump is also still popular with the Republican base (that 30% of the country that never wavers in those approval polls). They'd probably rather focus on voter suppression (and wait for Russian help) rather than try to reach out to other voters. Or even entertain the ludicrous idea of helping the country rather than just their own rich friends.

    Comey's upcoming book sure is selling well, especially after the free advertisement Trump gave him over the weekend. If McCabe doesn't get his pension, he can probably start on his own book and maybe have it out before the next election.

    Monday morning predictions:

    1) Trump fires Sessions and Rosenstein Friday night after 11 pm, installs Pruitt, then cans Mueller.

    2) Congress, which leaves town for a 2-week recess this coming Friday, having dealt with the budget this week and avoided a government shutdown, does nothing.

    3) Democrats scream and people protest, but nothing happens as the GOP calls for “calm” and “having a rational dialogue”, while agents of the Trump White House file a slew of legal maneuvers to try and prevent Mueller from turning over his data to the New York State attorney general’s office or making it public.

    Alarmist? I don’t think so. Politically, it’s his last, best chance to fire Mueller. If he does it during the week, Democrats will shut the government down and win this time. If he waits until Friday after they’ve left town, the investigation dies.

    Alternatively, he waits until next weekend, betting that Congress won’t come back over the Passover/Easter holiday.

    Thoughts?

    Odds on Trump tweeting a heartfelt congratulations to Putin on his legitimate, non-controversial election victory?

    Predictions of Mueller's imminent canning have all been greatly exaggerated, at least up to now. Your scenario suggests that Trump himself has a strategy for ramping up a path toward firing Mueller, or that his staff is capable of strategizing a roadmap for that which Trump is capable of adhering to over the course of longer than 24 hours.

    Yeah, there’s the problem of Trump having the attention span of a teaspoon, but it’s also worth noting that whenever the subject comes up, it alway seems as if the Republicans have already said, “Ummmm.....no, Donald.”

    Mueller is not going anywhere for the time being. Trump’s lawyer spouting off over the weekend was meant as a test balloon to judge what the fall out among Republicans would be (Trump could care less what the vast majority of America thought) and obviously it was meant with furious anger hence why they even Sean “unofficial chief of staff” Hannity back off today. But of course this test balloon is the same one they used for Rex Tillerson last December therefore I fully expect Rod to be fired this summer and shortly afterwards, the Trump AG office will move to fire Mueller.

    Trump is in a really bad place right now. His late night phone calls to his three remaining friends in life are literally the only contact Trump has to the outside world. Him and his wife are so estranged she might as well be living in Fiji they speak/see each other so little.. His older children (minus Tiffany) are complete mess ups led by Usay & Qusay who keep acting like the wannabe trust fund babies they are thinking they can play grown up but in reality should not even be working at McDonald's. His staff is nothing but strangers who are complete D-Players with an extremely select few exceptions whose numbers are quickly dwindling since everyone else worth a salt told him to take a hike. His own party brass would love nothing more if he just quit tomorrow especially since Mike Pence is incredibly more conservative then Trump however is not a total moron (just a zero) while the people who Trump secretly admires in life (Hollywood, NYC Elite, NFL Owners etc) openly mock him on literally an hour basis. Trump wants to be adored yet the only people who actually do worship him like he wants (rednecks) are people who he absolutely loathes hence why whenever he goes to see them in some rinky dinky high school gym he is happy for about 5-6 hours afterwards however it's like eating McDonald's ironically enough. He feels great for a bit but it wears off quickly as it's people Trump believes not good enough to drink his bathwater therefore he takes to Twitter and lashes out insanely since it isn't the people he wants to be adored by.

    Oh and Stormy Daniels interview with 60 Minutes is set to air on next Sunday. If you think Trump was going bananas on Twitter this past weekend, just wait.

    Brilliant F YOU! to Mike Pence from John Oliver. The surprise is at the end but the whole segment is great.

    Strategy not needed.

    It goes like this:

    Sessions = bad
    Rosenstein = bad
    Mueller + Democrats = traitors
    Russia Probe = Fake News

    Pruitt = firings/end of investigation.

    In Trump’s little mind, this is a plausible enough reflex arc that it can exist without the need for deep thoughts. Which subsequently brings it into the realm of the possible.

    I watched "Real Time with Bill Maher" the other night and Billy Bush was on there. He was told by Trump, a few years back, that the people will believe whatever he tells them...even if it wasn't true. This was about the ratings for "The Celebrity Apprentice", which Trump claimed was number one, but it was far from that. So, I'm going to go with the latter.
    Sound like porn names themselves. And bad ones at that. I think Trump should have hired the firm of Dewey, Cheetum and Howe.

    That latter, I wager.

    Just a question. Could Trump fire Pence? Is this theoretically possible/allowed?

    I wish we did. Then I could cancel the fourth Nor’easter in 3 weeks due here on Wednesday. I’m sick of shoveling snow.

    Oh, and this just happened.

    Yay SCOTUS! You got this one right.

    Uh, I must have missed this "furious anger". No offense, but it doesn't look to me like mainline Republicans are heroically resisting Trump out of principle at all. Given the choice to resist or abet Trump, Republicans have consistently done the latter. And why wouldn't they? Trump is giving them what they want...power.
