Believe it or not, after 1981, George Lucas hasn't had an original though in his head. Every film after that has been a spin off, prequel or sequel, built around one of his earlier films.

    To prove this I submit:

    AMERICAN GRAFFITI
    Followed by:
    MORE AMERICAN GRAFFITI
Follows the main characters, minus Richard Dreyfuss (whose sister is still a main character) years after the original.
    RADIOLAND MURDERS
The parents of Richard Dreyfuss's characters are the main character in this one.

    STAR WARS
    Followed by
    THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
    RETURN OF THE JEDI
    THE PHANTOM MENACE
    ATTACK OF THE CLONES
    REVENGE OF THE SITH
    CLONE WARS
    DROIDS
    EWOKS
    and
WILLOW and its associated novel have now been folded into the Star Wars universe. So even that can't be counted as original anymore.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK (Yes, that's the real title)
    Followed by
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM
INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE
    THE YOUNG INDIANA JONES CHRONICLES

THX-1138 is now the only film Lucas made that hasn't had a sequel or prequel. Lucas must act quickly! Donald Pleasance is dead, but fortunately Robert Duvall isn't. If this film isn't followed by sequels and spin-offs it will be forgotten!

If this is a thread about "hay guys George Lucas sure does like making sequels", um, we already knew. I don't foresee a lot of actual THX discussion going on though. If you have something to sustantative to say in that department feel free to post accordingly.
