EP3: Report From The Star Wars Summit
    Thu, Nov 06, 03 02:34:54 PM EST

AICN got the first spy report from the Star Wars Summit held for licensees in San Francisco today:

Some interesting things came to light. The marketing timeline for Star Wars is as follows - This week, The Clone Wars, then the original Star Wars trilogy is being released September 2004 , then Episode 3 teaser advertising begins in January of 2005, Episode 3 May 2005, Episode 3 DVD/VHS November 2005. One little fun fact - seems that they have TWO Star Wars television ideas floating around the ranch...one would be animation and the other - LIVE ACTION. These television projects would be in 2006. Let's hope they're better than the Star Wars Christmas Special, or those Ewok films.

How cool is that, we could be seeing our dreams come true with the Original Trilogy on DVD in time for Russ to get it for Amanda's Birthday and really get to make her wait! :D

I wouldn't get your hopes up. It doesn't make market sense to give the fans what they want first. And we all know Luca$ is all about the bling-bling.

"Original" here means episodes 4, 5, and 6. Special Editions or even SEs v1.1. But you won't see the actual original versions of the films until 2007 if ever.

"Coming May 22nd, 2007. Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Star Wars with The Complete Star Wars Saga on HD-DVD! All six episodes completely rematered in all new High Definition digital transfers and THX 9.2 surround sound! This 10-disc set is the definitive collection of the most successful series in cinema history.

Now for the first time ever, own the Original versions of the Classic Star Wars Trilogy on DVD. From prints recently discovered in the archives of Lucasfilm that were thought lost. May the Force be with you..."

Mark it down, it'll happen this way, if at all.
