    Monster Rancher
Space Ace (At elast I'm pretty sure I saw a Space ace cartoon around the time of Dragons Lair.)

    Q-Bert
Dungeons & Dragons (though at the time it wasn't a video game, I guess)

Heh about gameshows with video games, I remember a few years ago catching an episode of Jeopardy when it was college week. One of the guys just screamed (to me) "video game dork." When one of the "answers" came up and read something like

"This is the number 1 selling CD-ROM game of all time, where your adventures take place on a mysterious island and you use books to teleport you places."

The guy who obviously looked like a video game dork (we can smell our own) was clicking away on his answer button as if he was playing metroid or something to beat out the other contestants. He got in first, and then tried to veil his enthusiasm by attempting to be cool (he wasn't) and said, "What is Myst?" with a geeky smirk.

    I had to laugh.

On another note, anyone remember Captain Power? It wasn't a video game per se... well, I guess "technically" it was. You watched videos and took your little toy space jet and fired it at the screen. It was also a decent Saturday morning live action show with computer generated (which back then was rare in a tv show) bad guys.

I remember Captain Power- I even still have action figures from it (some cool designs).

An interesting tidbit- JMS (creator of Babylon 5, etc) was involved with that show, and had some really good plans for the show's second season (destroying their "power base" so they couldn't use their suits, forcing to them to go on the run), but the toy company or network (i forget which) didn't like it, so the show never got past it's first season.

There was one, really old, that involved Master Blaster, Bigfoot the Monster Truck from the video game of the same name, the Wizards and Warriors guy and some video game basketball player. All four were from games from the same company. All were NES games.

    And all 4 joined forces.

The latter featuring one of the most catchy theme tunes EVER.

son of the tears, those games were all by Acclaim. Now that you mentioned it, I seem to vaguely recall a show like that.

Is Pokemon a show based on a game, or a game based on a show?

Jomero, D&D would not count, since it is a show about an RPG. Pole Position, man it's been a while since I thought about that one....

Nice Kevin. As a note Mario had three versions. The original which was mainly based on both 1&2. Then there was SMB3. After that the final version was based on the first SNES Mario game. Speaking of Mario and Zelda.... Who remembers the NES cereal or trading cards?

The Pokemon game was quite good- it's the cartoon which sucks [face_batting]

That I've to agree, the cartoon is giving the game a bad name ;)

Same with with Cardcaptors, Digimon, Yugi-Oh and all other inane kiddie-animés. Maybe I'm just too old for a concept that appeals more to the 5-10 year old masses. Sorry.

I understand about those kiddy animé, but you rate Pokemon by it's cartoon and not by it's game. The games are quite good you know.

There was one, really old, that involved Master Blaster, Bigfoot the Monster Truck from the video game of the same name, the Wizards and Warriors guy and some video game basketball player. All four were from games from the same company. All were NES games.

I remember that, it was the same show that showed cheats and tricks for NES games and reviews for them as well. The cartoon was quite funny.

I enjoyed the first few episodes.
That Brok, how we laughed over the fact that he always had his eyes closed.
And Jessie... did she have one of the best Animè hairstyles ever or what?
