What single shot in the OT gives you goosebumps every time?

I suspect the popular answer to this question will probably be the "Twin Sunset" shot in ANH. But what other shots in the OT simply take your breath away and make your heart soar?

For me, it's the shot in ESB of Lando, Leia, Chewie and the droids fleeing towards the Falcon on Cloud City Platform 327, as they engage in a running blasterfight with pursuing stormtroopers. The flourish of the music, the high angle, the beautiful colors and the dramatic lighting of the shot are almost like a painting in motion.

Anyone have any others?

 

The end of RotJ with Luke seeing the spirits of Anakin, Yoda and Obi-Wan. There's such a sense of relief afterwards, and it's a great way to end the saga.

 

Yeah, the shot of the ghosts does it for me too.

So does the last one--the one of all the characters singing and celebrating.

When Luke and Leia swing across the bridge on the death star in ANH
When the Death Star blows up
When Han gets lowered into the carbonite in ESB
When Vader saves Luke from the Emperor in ROTJ
When Yoda raises the X-wing in ESB...

I could go on and on..

 

when the gang enters the cloud city dining room and see's vader.

"we would be honored if you would join us."

 

Vader looking between Luke and Palpatine, then grabbing the Emp and lobbing him down the reactor shaft.
Gets me every single time.

Several other little 'chill' moments, but that's the main one. The only other scene close to it, off the top of my head, is Anakin's confession in AOTC.
"And not just the men...", and then the Emperor/Sith theme surges up...brr.

 

When Luke enters the carbon chamber...and those eerie orange lights flip on...

"The force is with you, young Skywalker..."

My favorite scene in the whole saga.

One of my favorites is the end of ESB. Seeing Luke with his arm around Leia in a comforting way, and the droids standing nearby. I love it.

 

Simple, the short pause before Luke and Vader begin their duel in ESB. I always wonder exactly why they paused.

 

"If you won't join, perhaps she will" and then Luke goes mid-evil.

Other single shot - the look on Leia's face as the Slave1 takes off with Han on board

other single shot - the 'look' (for lack of a better word) on Vader when Luke is escorted out of the catwalk n Endor after he says, "Then my father is truly dead."

 

The Emperor's arrival on the second Death Star. "Rise my friend."

 

the most?

the ending of All three.

I love the fanfare at the end of ANH

and the view onto the mysterious galaxy in ESB

and the ghosts at the end of ROTJ.

 

I get goosebumps everytime the Imperial Fleet is cruising around in the OT, especially when The Executor makes its appearance.

 

anytime they put that ESB theme in. its so catchy, and completely sums up everything that movie is about.

and everytime ya hear it, it sounds new, because it has the ability to change mood and meaning so fluidly.


-when yoda says "you must feel the force around you"

-when the x-wing has landed, and luke looks at it in amasement

-when frozen han is dropped before leias feet

-that last shot of the cruiser flying off, in the rebellions darkest hour.

 

The whole last part of ESB till the end. Start from the "I'd be honored if you would join us." until the ending shot.

Vader reaching out his hand, instead of his lightsaber, to Luke after telling him of his parentage.

The look on Vader's face--I can almost see it through his mask--when Luke says, "Then my father is truly dead."

Vader looking between Luke and Palpatine and then throwing Palpatine down the reactor. And in the same scene, Luke lying on the floor yelling "Father, help me!"
