As I already mentioned in the Literature thread, I think focus on just the characters might not glean as much info as we hope. Instead, lets look at the events. The movie called the Force Awakens. The Force Awakening must be Rey grabbing the saber...except it can't. Because Snoke halfway through the movie informs Kylo there as been an Awakening. So when and where did the Awakening of the Force, the "catalyst" for the movie, occur?

after Rey taps her latent abilities to fly the Falcon. She comments on how she did not know how she did it. A few scenes later we see snoke sensing the awakening.

It is both due to Finns and Rey's actions in the film up to that point where Snoke says that line.

In Rey, it seems to be every time she experiences extreme emotions ...

Exactly. It is after Rey starts being involved in the galactic events.

Possibly - hopefully - the title has more than one meaning.
At first glance, it seems to refer to Rey discovering her latent abilities, i e the Force awakening within her.
In retrospect, after we've seen the next two episodes, we might discover that the title has to do with larger issues. Balance is mentioned right in the beginning of the movie and I believe it will be a central topic for the trilogy as a whole, even if it'll be implied rather than directly discussed. It's possible that the Force is becoming more potent now thanks to Anakin's deed in ROTJ.
It's also possible that "balance" isn't quite what we thought it would be. Maybe Rey and Ben will somehow end up working towards a common goal that brings true balance?

I agree, it's when she pilots the Falcon.

When does Snoke talking about the awakening come in relation to Rey picking up the saber and having the vision?

The Force awakened before Slip touched Finn and is responsible for Finn rejecting his programming, and coordinating his (and Poe's escape). This is where Kylo's first clue to the awakening came from. He looks at Finn after the assault, then knew it was him who was responsible for Poe's escape.

It also is responsible for him meeting up with Rey where they worked together timing the shot to kill the final TIE.

After these events, SLS claims there has been an awakening. Whether he felt it before Slip touched Finn or after the events that came along after I couldn't tell you.

Directly after the Rathtar sequence Snoke says there has been an Awakening. This of course comes slightly before her touching the saber and the vision.

Interestingly enough, if Rey began to awaken her Force sensitivity on the Falcon, it is also the place where Luke began to as well as he trained with the Obi-Wan and the remote. Perhaps this is no coincidence, but purposely engineered by the filmmakers.

The visual dictionary describes the Force awakening, not Rey or Finn. This awakening has affected both Rey (saber touch) and Finn (premonition of New Republic's destruction).

I think the awakening has to do with Rey being on the Falcon with Han Solo. I think snoke knows this isn't all a coincidence he knows Rey meeting Han (kylos dad) who also has a connection to Luke is now the time for serious action. The test for kylo to kill Han has presented itself and the chances of Rey finding Luke certainly increased when she ran into Han.

You can even look earlier, to her decision to help BB-8 and then to not sell him. She encounters a key object in the galactic drama at this point, and chooses to help, with pure benevolence. The whole series of subsequent events are the awakening.

I think it was when Poe got the data stick. Time for Luke to be found, and for some folks to join him.... Rey and Finn to start. :)

I don't think necessarily need to be a moment, she was awakening the moment the movie started, without noticing, and everything that happened in the movie with her was a consequence of her connection to the Force growing strong, the fact that she was close to the map for Luke Skywalker (If they find Skywalker The New Jedi will arise) probably accelerated it, now the moment when she catches the lightsaber isn't the awakening is Her ACCEPTING the awakening

Same way look accepted his fate when he find his adoptive parents dead.

They even used the same music

It would seem more likely that it was when Rey performed a Jedi Mind Trick on the Stormtrooper, since it was the first time she used the Force. Of course there was the moment when Rey finally accepted Luke's Lightsaber, and retrieved it out of the snow with the Force. But the Scene where Kylo has Rey backed up to the chasm, and he offers to teach her the ways of the Force, was interesting. Rey responds to Kylo's mention of the Force by repeating the words "The Force", then closing her eyes a moment, before opening them up as if she has a revelation and finally remembers the Force.
