ST Which actual ACTOR could have been a better Snoke than CGI-Snoke?

Evil is a human adjective, and in my honest opinion, it can be better portrayed by a real actor.

Who do you think could have played that role really well?

I would have suggested people like William Dafoe, Jack Nickolson, Ian McKellan, Bill Cosby, Anthony Hopkins or younger Actors like Mark Strong...

They mocapped the character only because of the physical size of the holorecording images we see.

 

Well Bill Cosby certainly would have created a sense of dread after Kylo carried Rey's body to the ship.

On a serious note though, I really hope they do something interesting with Snoke in the next film. The overacted mocap thing is a bit old now, and Snoke has potential to be truly villainous but is undermined by the appearance at the moment

They should have made Snoke female. The Art of TFA says that they considered this.

In early interviews Serkis said that the character he was playing could not physically be played by an actor in prosthetics, but obviously that turned out not to be the case. I think Serkis in an animatronic mask/make-up would have been more convincing than the ghostly cartoon we ended up getting. It's one of my few criticisms of the movie.

 

I can't help wondering if the reason for CGI is that this isn't what the character looks like , it's his way of hiding his identity , rather than just have a hooded shadow over his face like Palpy did ( which always seemed a bit risky to me )

Snoke has really grown on me tbh. I can't to see the real thing as opposed to the giant luminous hologram.
