"Who would win if x fought y?"

This is my new thread, with Mods permission, to replace the old Versus thread.

Basically, I post the Matchup, everyone argues who would win. Hopefully with some intelligent analysis. (I will take matchup suggestions via PM)

So, I am starting off big for the first Match.

Character with the most votes wins (or possibly if someone who is in the minority comes up with a stunningly brilliant argument, then the one with less votes), and if I am in the mood I write a very short story about the fight.

Lets get ready to rumble.

 

Palpatine would win if Sauron ever came out of his tower...

 

Palpatine.

He would just yank his club out of his hand, and force-grab the ring.

 

Sauron. Palpatine was a punk.

 

Palps, sauron is only a eye, and has teh One ring. Palps is cooler, he has a lightsaber and it's red

 

I cast my vote for Palpatine. Sauron has a tendency to lose every single physical engagement he gets in to, and while Palpatine doesn't really have a great Win-Loss record, he always manages to turn the situation around.


(BTW, Guys, I am open for suggestions on how to run this thing. Should the winner keep going until he loses? If you have matchup suggestions, PM me. If anyone wants to offer to write some of the Fanfic conclusions, that would be great, etc.)

 

I think you, perhaps with our help, should determine a list of "contestants" ahead of time, like the way those Census tournaments are run.

But for now, Palpatine. No contest.

It'll last two seconds, which by that point Sauron will be on the other side of Middle Earth after Palpatine launched him using that good ol' Force Lightning.

 

Palpatine beats silly Dennis Quaid characters any day.

 

Sauron is a Maia, and Palpatine is a mere human.



I can't believe I gave a serious response to a versus thread. And Jello, don't bring up the DESB-- please, please, please.

 

Might I remind you that Sauron has been defeated by a human twice, and a giant dog once.

Palps wouldn't be able to win until he destroyed the ring.

and you must keep in mind that one does not simply walk into Mordor. It's Black Gates are gaurded by more than just Orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the Great Eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland riddled with fire, ash, and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this. It is folley.

 

8-3 Palpatine so far.

 

One time it took God himself to kill him.

 

Touche. The destruction of the Numenoreans from the inside out was rather Palpatinish.

 

We're nerds.

 

Palpatine for sure, I mean, come on, he is one of the most powerful sith ever.

 

I wouldn't put money on that. Between you and Blithe the DESB is near the top of my hated things list.

 

Batman

Palpatine is a mortal being using spiritual power, whereas Sauron is a spiritual being with his own power.

This in and of itself would seem to lean on to Palpatine's side, but unfortunately the extent of their respective powers make it impossible for me to choose one or the other.

 

Both made egregious tactical errors in what should've been their moments of triumph, but I'll go with the Dark Lord of Mordor.

Sauron can easily be destroyed by cutting off his fingers and then throwing his ring into some lava.
