I wonder if episode 8 or 9 will have a "man behind the man" reveal.

 

On the case of Lupita she was rumored to be a Sith. (mind this this was the first site to bring up the Lupita casting)

The part Nyong'o has been reading for a is a major female role and doesn't seem to be tied into the family lines from Episodes 4-6.
From what I heard, Lupita might be going up for a a sith!

Perhaps, but I was answering a direct question as to how the villain scenario could work within the 30 year/3 film timeframe.

 

If becoming a Jedi is as easy as someone deciding to follow the Jedi ideology, why was Luke being the last of the Jedi such a big deal? In fact, why was Luke even called "the last of the Jedi"?

Maybe Luke finds out the Sith are trying to rise again and tries to stop it. Bane made rule of 2 1000 years BBY. Before that there were hundreds of Sith, and armies of non sith led by Sith. Bane knew this wouldnt achieve their goals so made rule of 2. Sidious was (maybe) the last of that line of sith, so they can go anywhere with it now they have been defeated. Maybe armies of Sith will return?

 

Noooooooooooooooo armies of Sith. Armies of lightsaber-users look terrible on screen and it results an individual sith being generic soldiers (like Battle Droid or Stormtroopers) instead of scheming, threatening badasses.

Also, armies of Sith can't accomplish anything because they always fall to infighting.

 

I agree and I doubt it will happen. My point is they can do what they want with the Sith. Maybe Luke, without a Jedi instructor anymore has fallen to the darkside without realising it. He does force choke Jabbas pig men guards in ROTJ.....

Luke wouldn't go to the Dark Side - and he doesn't kill Jabba's guards until later, when he has to.

A fallen Jedi wouldn't work as the big bad because:

1. It would be a huge step down from Palps and Vader.

2. It would make the Jedi the cause of the problem instead of the solution.

Assuming Driver is a villain, has been spotted anywhere yet? Am I right in thinking he wasn't at Abu Dhabi or at Skellig or seen at Puzzlewood?

If he is only working at Pinewood, that probably tells us he will be largely space station- or ship-bound through much of the film.

 

Maybe he IS Ship from the Legacy of the Force books

 

Except that Vader was a fallen Jedi (as was Dooku) & the Jedi were the cause of many of their own problems in the PT.

There are many different ways they could portray a "fallen Jedi". Some of those would work IMO.

 

We could use some of rumors to freshen things up.

 

a fallen jedi seems likely (if there are any jedi) unless they just introduce bad guys we've never seen (also likely).
