why is lando so mean

Lando deffinatly isn't a bad guy. I'm starting to think you've been kidding this whole time though I'm not sure...

 

Lando didn't have much of a choice. His choices in TESB were to either let his city get destroyed or taken over by the Empire or letting an old friend who he really didn't trust 100% get captured by Vader.

Lando isn't a bad guy. He isn't a sleave. He just had no good options. Either choice he made, somebody would suffer for it.

Had Lando chosen not to help Vader, the thousands of people at Cloud City would suffer for it. That's much worse than letting a friend you haven't seen for ten years and four other people you've never met "suffer".

And don't forget, Lando didn't know Vader's true intentions. Lando only figured that he would hand Han over to Vader and that Leia and the others would remain with him at Cloud City in safety (as Vader told Lando when they first made the deal). Then Vader changed things so that Han would be put in carbonite and that Leia and the others wouldn't be able to stay with him in safety on Cloud City.

I get so tired of people calling Lando a sleaze. A lack of good options doesn't make somebody a bad guy.

According the EU Lando NEVER tried to steal to steal the Falcon. He played few times with Han Solo sabacc and the Falcon switched 1 or 2 times between them again but nothing more.

 

Lando didn't have a choice, it was either Han or an entire city, anyone who wasn't completely selfish would have saved the city over a few people

 

When I read posts like these, I have to question the American education system.

What's an opniion?

 

-He made an attempt to save Han from Boba at the end of ESB. He failed, but at least he tried.
-He left with Chewbacca to find Han and rescue him
-He was a very important factor in saving Han from Jabba the Hutt
-He bravely accepted the offer to lead rebel forces againts the atack on the second Death Star
-And the big one...HE BLEW UP THE DEATH STAR


Don't forget that he invented Landos BBQ sauce...mmm mmm good.

Lando had to do what the empire wanted, but the second he was given the chance he helped the rebels. He's a good guy.

 

Thats not an Opinion Clone. Its more of a Statement and Specification more than anything. he is not a Bad Guy and he is not Sneaky. If he was a Bad Guy why not just peel off From the DS Attack and blast off in Hyperspace? Why not kill Wedge and Save the Empire? Hes not a Bad Guy. Thats the Funniest Thing i've heard since I read about George Bush choking on a Pretzel.

If you were Lando, would you stand up against Vader? I doubt it...if you valued your larynx, in any case. Not to mention your life.

 

As well as the independent status of your planet that you'd worked so hard to maintain.

 

Wouldn't all the people in Cloud City outnumber Vader and the 2 or 3 Stormtroopers around him though? Surely if they all took up arms they could've fought off the small group of Imperial forces.

 

Maybe, but with the Executor sitting in orbit, it could have just blasted Cloud City from there.

When did he help Vader? He was forced to lure Han in or he was to be killed, that's not helping Vader.
