Ishtar Alabina is considered Middle Eastern music. Caught an album of the band on a flight to Los Angeles once and liked the music ever since.

This is her song which was remade by a DJ. Works good during the slow parts.
The dancing is mesmerizing. Its beautiful and sexy as hell. After watching it I can understand how John the Baptist lost his head.

I had been meaning to post about one of my favourite bands, Orphaned Land, in the Christian Music thread but it can go here too. They're a band from Israel that could be described as "Middle Eastern Folk Metal". I wouldn't classify them under "Christian/Muslim/Jewish music" (in fact none of the band members are religious to begin with) but the majority of their songs focus on the Abrahamic religions. Best of all they have a positive message in their music promoting unity and peace in the Middle East and between the religions (the cover art of their most recent album says it all really).

Oh yeah and the music kicks ass.

I like this group Zohar. It's the brainchild of Erran Baron Cohen, Sacha's older brother. They sample both Islamic and Jewish sounds and singers, you know like cantors and muezzins and such and create really lovely musical backings for them. Their first album, one.three.seven, had the misfortune to be released on September 11th, 2001, not the best day to release an album of Middle Eastern music if you want it to be a million seller, you know? But it's a wonderful album.

The below is my favorite track. I confess that I'm not well enough versed in middle eastern music to necessarily know what's religious and what isn't, but the title of this track is The Merciful One, which I know is a name for Allah in Islam, so I believe that the sampled vocals here are from a muezzin. At the risk of revealing horrific cultural ignorance, I therefore post this in the Islamic music thread. If it's Jewish or secular or whatever, my apologies. I really love this one.

I was testing to see if people would just assume vaguely Arabic sounding music was Muslim.
