There used to be one! It was like hundreds of pages long. My pet casting was Paul Walker as Cade Skywalker.

I would endorse restarting this, but I don't know if it'd be considered a duplicate if there's already been one.

What I wouldn't give for some fanart of the characters in a 90's Fox Kids style

I agree! It would be so cool. Perhaps an intrepid fan might feel inspired to make some.

Also, when it comes to casting, I wouldn't mind if you guys talked about that in this thread if you wanted to. Anything to do with the proposed show would be welcome!

I really like the NPR audio drama cast, and they reunited in 1996 for the ROTJ adaptation. I don't know if they ever did TV voicework, but I think it would have been a nice bit of continuity to have Perry King and Ann Sachs as YJK-era Han and Leia.

They should be doing a Jedi kiddos animated series for the High Republic. Heck, they could still adapt YJK to that era and have a Jedi Outpost on Yavin IV.

I wonder what life action cast the YJK may have gotten as a late 90s teenager show. Plenty of kid actors to choose from. Anybody here remembers the show "Ocean Girl" which had great kid actors and interesting themes. Kinda felt YJK-esque from the character interactions and adventures. Any other shows that remind you of this or that YJK element? Some show and movie adaptions of Enid Blyton works (Famous Five, or also the Adventure series) also had great kid casts on episodic adventures. One could easily style a YJK show on those concepts.

Just imagine the Diversity Alliance on screen life action... the Mandoverse should do something like that group given its Alien galore already!

    SOLD, take my money!

I think that Lucasfilm didin't feel ready for it because of the notion that Star Wars wasn't "high profile" anymore, after so many years without animated shows or movies, with Shadows of the Empire being the biggest thing at that time, maybe they felt like it still wasn't a safe bet, but i think they were wrong, if anything people were starving for more material at that time (beyond the EU fans of course, i'm talking about the average joe).

If this was made then Jacen and Jaina would have been introduced to a whole generation of kids and they would have been much higher profile characters, making the events from the books more well known, maybe it would have opened the door for a future Episode VII to follow this continuity in 2015 (even if it had changes compared to the original stories) maybe following the next generation after Jacen and Jaina with Ben, Vestara, Chance and Allana.

From a generational sense, it would have been a big change from what we had, i haven't known many "90's kids" (meaning those who were kids at the time, born in the mid to late 80's) and their opinions on Star Wars, i guess most think of Luke, Han and Leia as "their" heroes, for their generation, since the Prequels weren't out yet not until 1999, the 2000's kids' Star Wars is obviously the prequels, Clone Wars micro series and TCW, with Anakin, Obi-Wan, etc. so we would have:

70's and 80's kids: Luke Han and Leia.

90's kids: Jacen, Jaina and Anakin.

    2000's: Obi-Wan and Anakin.

2010's: The Sequel characters (be it Rey, Poe, Finn and Kylo or EU characters like Ben Skywalker, Vestara, Chance Calrissian and Allana).

This would also make for some interesting arguments between YJK fans and Clone Wars fans lol, or even some angry book readers finding that some stuff wasn't included from the books.

I really wish this were a thing, someone make a time machine to check out the alternate timeline in which this happened.

Oh, hey. Thanks for the shout-out. :) Yeah, I knew about it back then. I had a link to an interview with KJA about it a long time ago but had lost it during a crash or something.

Yeah, a YJK-based series. Seeing as how the YJK is more important to me than the Original trilogy or any of the other movies and 1. got me through dealing with an emotionally/verbally-abusive ex-stepfather and 2. got me into writing fanfic? It's painful that this never got made. Those characters got done dirty.:mad::mad:

I right now would pay through my nose for a Tenel Ka action figure. God, even one of those crappy react ones!

Actually some fan did a decent Black Series one for Tenel Ka and gave me his recipe... I lack skills but got all parts here and hope to one day finish it myself. Maybe you can too?

Do you guys have any thoughts about what the soundtrack/score might have sounded like? Animated television in the 90s was full of fantastic scores, which ranged from classical orchestra (such as Batman's by Shirley Walker and Spiderman's by Shuki Levy, Kussa Mahchi,& Udi Harpaz) to more modern sounding rock-inspired themes. Beyond these, there were also more forgettable themes to many shows. Any thoughts as to the music of this potential show, if it were made?

You can sing "Young Jedi Knights" to the Ducktales theme song... it's fun!

Life is like a Force Storm here on Yavin IV
Speeders, lasers, lightsabers it's a, Force - blur!
Might solve a mystery, or rewrite hist'ry!
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh
Every day they're out there making
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh
Tales of daring do bad and good luck tales! whooh ooh
When it seems they're heading for the final curtain
Cool deduction never fails that's for certain
The worst of messes become successes
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh
Every day they're out there making
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh
Tales of daring do bad and good luck tales! whooh ooh
    D - D - D - Danger! Watch behind you!
There's a Sith Lord, out to find you!
What to do? Just grab on to some Jedi Knights.
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh
Every day they're out there making
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh

No more threats nor Sith cultists, no
    Jedi Knights! whooh ooh

or the Darkwing Duck theme song:

Young Jedi of the Force, champions of light.
Swoop out through the galaxy, Young Jedi own the Light.
Somewhere some villain schemes, but his number's up (3-2-1)

Young Jedi Knights (when there's trouble you call YJK.)
Young Jedi Knights, Let's get adventurous.
Young Jedi Knights (Young Jedi, Young Jedi Knights)

Signs of trouble and they appear, heirs to the Force.
Who's that group of Teenagers, that fight for Life and Light.
Nobody knows for sure, but bad guys are out of luck, cause here come

Young Jedi Knights (when there's trouble you call YJK.)
Young Jedi Knights, Let's get adventurous.
Young Jedi Knights (Better watch out you Dark Lords.)
    Young Jedi Knights!

But the more I think about it, if they did a Galaxy of Fear show, animated or live action, could Jack Black have played Hoole?

Or life action "Rangers of the New Republic" reimagined... starring Chuck Norris as Kyle Katarn (Walker - Texas Ranger style)?

Part of me wants to say some heavy influence from the movie score. Can't really go wrong with John Williams, after all. Still...

Okay, those were damned clever. :D

Hey everyone, I have a little update to this thread: while going through some old interviews with the authors, I came across a 1999 interview with Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta with Jedi Talk, the first Star Wars podcast (this may even be the first interview with authors by fans on a SW podcast in history, actually). While the entirety of the interview was interesting, a section stood out to me -- in this section they actually discussed the proposed Young Jedi Knights TV series and the rumors surrounding its production, even years after the authors had clarified to fans the proposal was turned down. Still, rumors persisted, and the authors address those rumors also in the interview.

I think it might be interesting for fans of the series to hear it, so here is a little excerpt, focusing on the YJK TV show portion. Enjoy!

You know, the Skeleton Crew kids are said to be from an isolated planet...and a recent work established that the Singing Mountain and other non-nightsister witch clans existed...could you imagine it being Dathomir and Tenel Ka being one of the main characters?

Almost certainly not going to happen, but fun to think about.

And on that topic, imagine if the Chu'unthor was the setting for the High Republic Young Jedi Adventures show...
