Characters Discussion The ABCs of our OCs

So, this is a fun game for all the OC creators out there. Basically we are going to work our way through the alphabet paying tribute to the many Original Characters that make up the vast ecosystem of this board...

The idea is simple - I will start with a character whose name starts with A (either first or last name) and give the link to a story they appear in. The next poster writes about a character whose first or last name starts with B. Then C for the next poster and so on.

They don't have to be your OCs, just make sure you give credit to the amazing person who created them!

Let's see if we can make it through the entire alphabet!

And with that! I'm going first!

A is for An-Paj!

Jedi Healer extraordinaire made by the much missed Jane Jinn. An-Paj appears in many, many stories and has been borrowed to the point of being fanon, so I had to trawl all the way back to 2003 to find one by his original author - Invisible Enemy.

 

C is for: Caleb Bridger, Ezra and Mara’s son in the Marzra-Verse stories. He appears as a baby in I Don’t Know How She Does It and as a teenager in (Not) The Ballad of Ronen Syndulla-Jarrus. Caleb has dark hair and green eyes and is exceptionally skilled with a lightsaber. He plays quetarra as a hobby and is center striker on the Northern Lothal Unified Prep School’s grav ball team, the Loth-Wolves.

 

D is for: Dannika Vist, Dannika is a young medic from Eriadu who was recuited as a medial officer for the Outland Regions Defence Force in 42 ABY, though after her first brush with the battlefield she decided she didn`t have the stomach to be a combat medic and instead went back to working at the Hospital. Though later she did return to help in the liberation of Qaelan from the slavers of the Iron Alliance. Taking over a leading position on Qaelans hospital staff after the battle to help combat the humanitarian crisis. Oh and she is the latest lover of Asajj Ventress, or is Asajj hers? Who knows?

 

E is for Tarhin Engaron. He is a police officer belonging to the long-lived Dunai elder species and has during his exploring of the galaxy a run in with Jedi from the high republic area (227 BBY) Fired by his superior after that run in he goes to Varanko where he has a nice job for 60 years before going to Corellia. After 10 years as a CorSec officer he returns to Moniron where he becomes chief special ops. The stories he appears in are Shields, King puzzle, Simple exercise and Second time around.

 

F is for F'kisi!

The wayward nephew of Eena Plum from USJS and an honouree member of the Family of Scoundrels. F'kisi is a giant, looming softie who spends his life helping his (eventual) girlfriend Estra keep her temper under control. He's a skilled hallikset player and spends his downtime playing alongside Estra. F'kisi can be found here - - Driving Lessons - The 5 times Estra tried to teach F'kisi to drive and the one time he actually succeeded although he pops up in most Family of Scoundrel fics.

 

Ooh, this is fun! Will definitely pick an OC of my own at some point but someone else jumped out at me for the letter G.

G is for Grianán, a major character featured in several of @AzureAngel2 's fascinating epics of the ancient GFFA. She is the narrator of "Cat litter". She is a Force-user from long before the Jedi, and has complicated relationships to her loved ones who fall on both sides of that dark side/light side divide -- and they do so in different ways than the familiar Sith and Jedi split.

 

H is for Herleva Orrelios, mother of Zeb and his five siblings in The Beginning of Honor and other Lasan Series stories. Herleva is a former Honor Guard captain, as well as a devoted wife and mother, and is a force to be reckoned with on both fronts. She teaches all her children, especially those who follow her footsteps in the Honor Guard, to live by the Guard’s code: helping those who cannot help themselves is the beginning of honor.

 

I is for Tomy Itsi, Jedi-knight and engineer and responsible for the repairs with his friend Aiden (Spanners) O-Lenge. The two were responsible for the first YT1300 freighter bought by the Jedi and saw it named Millennium Falcon. Itsi had a padawan Tarko Sanek and managed to escape order 66 with his friend and more initiates in the Millennium Falcon, later known as the Eagle. First on Corellia they travelled to Moniron where they became teachers at a school.

 

J is for Julian Vasseron, husband to Corissa Jade, father to Alaine Vasseron, brother-in-law to Mara Jade Skywalker and Luke Skywalker. Calm and steady enough to balance Corissa’s impulsivity, Julian is a professional dancer and choreographer who fully shares his wife’s passion for those subjects. He has a dry sense of humor and is very good with children. Julian appears in the Renewal!verse stories The Story So Far and And They Danced.

 

(Hope NSWFF OC's are okay for this! And also, I've discovered some of the challenges of writing about another writer's (or writers') OC's for this -- I hope I credited this one correctly but please let me know if not.)

K is for Kashore Uhura* (Star Trek NSWFF), the sister of Nyota Uhura of the Enterprise crew. Kashore was first written by @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha in [Star Trek] "Ever Yours, With Love and was jointly developed by @Mira_Jade and @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha. She appears here and there in @Mira_Jade's works (for example, in the drabble set for Week XIV "like a hole in the heart" in her "East of the Sun" Star Trek anthology. @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha has further developed her through many stories into an engaging character with a range of interests, a romantic lead in her relationship with fellow OC Dajan, and as wonderful friend to her sister Nyota. Kashore is the leading character of @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha's diary fic Kashore: Memoir of Love and Laughter and appears in a major supporting role in many of @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha's fics in the Star Trek fandom.

*The surname is a guess as I'm not 100% sure that her full name has been mentioned anywhere.

 

M is for Doctor Gabriel Mezzon, a Force-sensitive human scientist allied with Darth Krayt and his One Sith. Believed to have been killed in 44 ABY during the Jedi rescue mission/attack on Yalena (portrayed in The Lands of the Dead and Night Must Fall), Mezzon later resurfaced on Vjun in 51 ABY, during the events of Enter the Foreign. He has a particular reverence for the Yuuzhan Vong and their gods, as well as a special interest in Force-sensitive twins. His ultimate scientific goals remain largely a mystery.

 

N is for Nadira Jade, Mara Jade’s mother in the Renewal!verse. She’s married to Ronan, and they have two younger children as well, Nico and Corissa. As far as they know, Mara’s Force-sensitivity comes from her side of the family; she had a great-uncle who had been taken to the Jedi Temple as a very young child. Nadira is a devoted mother and worked hard to keep her family together after the trauma of Palpatine kidnapping their oldest child. Nadira is found in nearly all the Renewal!verse stories, but Fractured and Putting Down Roots are from her POV.

 

O is for Ophelia. She is one of the "dancers" at Madame Aramat's establishment in the Northern Territories of Tatooine. She appears in "Something is shining like gold, but better".

 

Q is for Jerza Quwin. She was the padawan of Jadin Finn and killed during a mission on Carandas when she jumps in front of a mother and baby when a poisonus plant explodes sending spores in the air.

 

R is for Ronan Jade. In the Renewal!verse, he’s husband to Nadira and father to Mara, Nico, and Corissa. A quiet introvert, Ronan works as a mechanic and loves his family more than anything. Mara and Nico inherited his mechanical skill, and Mara and Corissa got their red hair from him. Ronan appears in nearly all the Renewal!verse stories, but Fatherhood and The Story So Far are from his POV.

 

S is for Suriel. He is a rebel alliance intelligence agent (his history classified and known only to himself--at least for now) stationed on Eriadu in the walled city of Floreat, where his overall goal is to undermine the Empire's standing, and encourage dissent, on Grand Moff Tarkin's own homeworld. He is also involved in local workers' protest movements, where he has gotten the alliance at least a few new recruits.

He appears in The Wrong Side of History.

 

T is for Edmund Tarkin, who has appeared in a few of my drabbles. His debut is in We Are Finished, Forevermore.

He is Wilhuff Tarkin's estranged elder brother, and he has become a forever-student because he promised his parents that he would enlist in the military after he's completed his education.

He has an absurd sense of humour that comes in handy when he flees Coruscant as Order 66 is happening, and all the craziness that keeps happening after that.

 

U is for Flight Officer Kalre Unatel who, in Thmper09's short piece in her Kessel Run Challenge thread, serves as the lead into the struggle between the Living Force and the Cosmic Force as war takes its toll on beings across the galaxy. Unatel is a pilot for the X-Wing squadron Corona.

 

V is for Veeran Starskip. He and his twin brother were raised among the Jedi before being kidnapped by the Sith. Outgoing and daring and fiercely loyal to the people he cares about, he possesses a brutal command of the Force and plenty of physical strength to back it up, and he is often considered the brawn to his brother’s brains. Stories in my main Enter!verse that feature Veeran’s POV include Beneath the Gods of the Bright Sky and Thunderbolt and Lightning, and he also appears in The Darker View (an AU where he is rescued by the Jedi at Yalena) and There Is Nothing Lost (where he lives in Regency Era England and takes care of horses).

 

W is for Wilhuff Tarkin II. He is the fourth of Grand Moff Tarkin and his wife Astoria's five children, and known by those both in the family and outside of it as "the prettiest one." As an adult, he has a dream-dust habit (but he's not an addict/he can quit any time he wants/he just doesn't want to), and is overall adrift in the universe with a history BA, no job, and very little purpose. He is loyal to his family--almost as if he's trying in some inept way to make them into the more functional family they could have all used--and there isn't much he won't do for his eldest sister Imogen, who lives near him.

He appears in The Wrong Side of History.

 

X is for Xinatra, a Falleen gambler who frequents the Azure Kroyie cantina in Merkesh City. He plays against (and loses to) Raissa Baiard for a pair of stolen lightsabers in Verraro the Hutt’s sabacc tournament in In the Cards.

 

@Raissa Baiard , Xinatra! Perfect name, and a story that I haven't re-read in way too long.

Y is for Yehan, an Ewok youngling in dire circumstances who is rescued and adopted by Teebo and Latara in @Ewok Poet's series of tales set on Endor. His main story appears in About a Boy.

 

Z is for Zallie!

Our little beast-warden Force-user. Child of Kithera Rinani and Qui-Gon Jinn, Zallie goes through life trying to befriend, care-for and adore every animal she comes across despite how scary it is. Zallie appears in the ongoing Snips and Snails and Bantha Tails.
