Sad to see so many stories lost. I came back to read my old stuff and the thread I was going through was the same of course as everyone else's. I doubt it can be fixed but what is the Wayback?
masterjedi343 The Wayback Machine is an internet archive that stores snapshots of old web pages at archive.org. I'll look up your stories and PM you what I find.
If you want to. I thought I still had the actual word Document saved somewhere on a HD but haven't come across that yet, as when I wrote it, I copied and pasted them from the Doc to the page(smart on my end because if I do come across it I will be thrilled).
Did they ever figure this out I've been coming back every few years to see if https://boards.theforce.net/threads/the-panthers-cub-au-complete-ch-76-8-19-06.10596413/ has been fixed, I've messaged the author and even looked at the wayback machine it only goes up to chaper 33 before swaping to the temp forums. Is there any other way to fix this?
that really sucks is there any other way to get it back? id even take a database dump of the posts at this point lol i just wanna read the story again
Is there any way we can request for a specific story to be restored? There’s an older story, https://boards.theforce.net/threads...n-afterlife-best-drama-fomd-spoiler.25672589/, that really caught my eye, but unfortunately was truncated.
I think the only possible way is to try and track down the original author. See if they have a copy. It really sucks that so much was lost
I sent a PM to the author, but it seems like AnakinsFavorite has been inactive since 2012. It really sucks that those stories were truncated because this site is the only repository storing older stories.
I hunted the story down on the Wayback Machine. After much difficulty, I found it in the thread list here: https://web.archive.org/web/20070202041109/http://boards.theforce.net/the_saga/b10476/p2 Unfortunately, it turns out that the Wayback Machine crawler never actually "clicked" that link, and so the story itself is not available on the Wayback Machine.
The Wayback Machine had a crash that wiped out some of the history. It's not that the bot didn't go there, it's that info got lost with the crash.
So sorry to bump, but something I was thinking about this again and got a bit curious and wanted a bit of a answer to a question, but does the old data from the old forums even still exist after all this time? Including the parts that can’t currently be accessed?
The old data was on IGN's servers and I believe it's long gone. We got a copy of the old data and that's what became these boards. I don't know whether the old data was truncated when the backup was taken from IGN or when we loaded it to Xenforo. The IGN person who was helping us is no longer there as far as I know. (I believe he left for a new job). As far as old discussions about the films, etc, we have Inactive Forum sections for both the JCC and Fan Force. I'm pretty sure non-mods users can access that on a read-only basis. Be aware that links in posts probably won't work. We had an issue with the link bb code format as part of the conversion.
Hello, this is AERYN_SUN I still can't login to my old profile, but I follow my old profile. This is the only fic that I care about carrying over my ao3.org fanfiction profile. It's called The Kids Are Okay. I can't find a complete copy anywhere, but I was wondering if maybe some awesome fanfic reader saved a complete copy.
